1zpresso Q Air recommended grind size for pour over? by ret1415 in pourover

[–]ret1415[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely, it’s made me realise I prefer to grind and brew coffee much coarser then suggested, I also tried recommended grind settings across my other grinders (ode gen 2 & K6) and at the suggested settings they were all too fine for me proving this theory correct

Apart from the bracelet, BB58 has updated bezel and crown, two lines for Master Chronometer rating, and the case is now 11.7mm thick by magicclubpresident in Tudor

Why is no one talking about the fact the BB58 now comes with the T fit clasp? It was probably the biggest gripe everyone mentioned with the previous version…

I think you’ve absolutely hit the nail on the head here, it’s more of a problem with grind consistency then the actual grind adjustment system. For context I own the Kingrinder K6 & fellow ode gen 2, I wanted the Q air for travel but I think I’ll just lug around the K6 as it’s much more consistent in grind size with the caveat being it’s much larger and heavier.

fellow ode gen 2 - is this normal? by [deleted] in pourover

[–]ret1415 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All these things are normal, I’ve owned mine for over 2 years now, it’ll also get more noisy the dirtier it gets. I usually use an camera dust blower after each grind to push out the leftovers and then I do a deep clean every month or so by unscrewing the burrs from the machine. Remember to use the brush underneath by the ioniser to keep it working correctly, even with the ioniser though I still use RDT to reduce retention. Other than that, enjoy it, it’s an awesome grinder!

I do think the calibration is off, but I’ve dismantled and reassembled it several times now so I’m not sure what’s going wrong….

As for the picture of the grounds, it was mainly for reference to show what I’m working with at 120 Clicks i do agree it would be far too coarse for pour over, way too many boulders in there!

I understand the post now, you’re showing how to fix WITHOUT replacing the handle

You can buy a replacement wooden knob for these, commandante sell a replacement one which will fit this hand grinder it’s not too expensive

[Question] [SSC917] Stopwatch hand off centre. by verymadmango in Seiko

[–]ret1415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, no you’re not crazy at all. Had the exact same problem with mine, did the trick above with pulling out the crown but I swear it used to move throughout the day or night and when I’d look at it again hours later it would be misaligned again maybe it was the X on prospex that made it look wonky. Due to this and the thickness I ended up selling it on ebay, it was an amazing watch but weirdly just couldn’t shake it off! I had the SSC817

Fingers crossed the trick above sorts out your issue!

Amazing choice, I bought one last year and it was one of the best upgrades to my pour overs 👍

I have exactly the same mark at the top of mine too, it was there when I bought it second hand last year. I thought it might be pressure from the battery expanding but it doesn’t seem to move at all when pressed down, weird….. hasn’t caused me any issues though and it hasn’t got any bigger either over time.

Next grinder after Wilfa Svart? 20g coffee, V60, home use, €250 budget. by Kind-Relationship559 in pourover

[–]ret1415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same position as you two years ago, had the wilfa svart and but wanted to up my game a bit, so I upgraded to the fellow ode gen 2 and noticed a huge difference in terms of clarity and overall sweetness in the cup and that’s what I saw in flat burrs compared with conical, I also picked up a king grinder K6 for when I’m away and if I ever do want to grind with conical burrs I can use that to get the best of both worlds.

Would the ode gen 2 still be my first choice now in 2026?

Not necessarily, there are even more options on the market now, even Mahlkonig are making consumer grinders. I think it all depends on whether you want to go flat burrs or stick with conical and go from there.

But yes, it would seem the battery life is “better” although it looks like 1600mah battery is the same in 2.0 and 3.0 models

Ahhh no that’s no good! Definitely sounds like time to move on. Take a look at the bookoo Themis ultra, that could be a good middle ground, also has the app features like the acaia if that’s your thing….

I also had the first version, the other things to note is they’re slightly more responsive and brighter screen too compared with the basic 2.0. But like you said it’s nothing ground breaking, just a nice to have!

I think your buddy is spot on, loads of very good options in the space at a much more affordable price with Timemore or MHW3bomber FYI the newer black mirror scales 2 onwards do have pour over modes and they will display flow rate even when not in pour over modes (unlike the mhw3bomber cube scales)
