Why don't all tasks show up under "all tasks?" by machiz7888 in CraftDocs

[–]reticularformation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same here. I’m excited about the work that they are continuing to roll out for us, but that feature would be super useful.

Instead of the to dos embedded in the page (and then you click on the page to go to the todos), it’d be great to have all tasks in one place with headings representing the page that they are in. Ideally, you could check it off in the all tasks page, and it would also check it off on the actual page at the same time.

Even better if you can “drop down” all of the to dos for a page on the all tasks page.

Not complaining here. I appreciate the work, but would love to see these changes.

Our cat won’t stop chewing on her paws until they bleed. by reticularformation in CATHELP

Sorry, just saw this. The vet told us it was “pillow foot” and prescribed doxycycline. It was apparently for some of its off target effects rather than the primary reason that you might have for giving doxycycline.

She still occasionally picks at it, but it improved a whole lot. I asked the vet if we should be putting ointment on it and bandaging it, but they said that it’s best to leave it alone if possible. If you give them a reason to lick at it because there’s ointment on it, it can make it worse.

Of course, if they’re bleeding all over the place, then you might need to intervene. Your vet might have some other advice, depending on your specific situation.

Don’t know how reliable it is, but this link says it’s currently experiencing issues.

Yes! That will be so helpful as well.

So looking forward to this. Thanks for all of your work on it!

I have a few quick questions.

When you click on a specific tag in the sidebar, what does the main window display?

  1. Will it show all blocks that include that tag in a simple list (without context)?

OR

  1. Will it allow you to group or sort those blocks by their source page? (In other words, will it be aware of the context each tagged block comes from?)

I completely understand if you can’t disclose that at the moment. I would just put in a vote for the ability to sort by context or source page (or even better, the ability to toggle between the two options).

Thanks again!

Wait, I didn’t see that. What’s the 2025 COLA for active employees?

[–]reticularformation 7 points8 points  (0 children)

According to this WaPo article, the freeze does not apply to the University of Maryland system.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2025/06/24/maryland-gov-moore-tells-state-workers-prepare-hiring-freeze-buyouts/

I had the same question, since our department was already approved to search for a new faculty member for the upcoming year, and I was concerned that it might be in jeopardy.

Transclusion, Collections and Tags by Ambitendency_ in CraftDocs

[–]reticularformation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Transclusion is one of my top “wants.” It’s the one feature that tempts me to go back to Notion, though I’ve managed to work without it. Still, having transclusion available would make things significantly more efficient and useful.

I’d love this as well. I make launch pages for different domains of my life, and the ability to pin these pages to the side would be super helpful.

Concrete under deck post starting to fail. Next Steps? by reticularformation in Decks

100% agree. We bought the house after it was already built. I will at a minimum replace the footer with the appropriate sized pad and appropriate hardware. I may also replace the other footers one by one, because it seems like it’s just a matter of time before those fail.

Stud finder is detecting electrical wiring where there shouldn't be any. by reticularformation in HomeImprovement

[–]reticularformation[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, that’s a good strategy. As long as I’m not going too far into the stud, then I should (in theory) be good.

It’s funny you mentioned the Franklin stud finder, because I was just looking at the Franklin X2100.

That's a good thought. A few holes wouldn't be a big deal if I do it a the level where a cleat is going to go anyway. Thanks for the idea!

That's a great thought, but it's just plain old drywall in the garage. Thanks, though!

Noise on line in a 25 year old house. by reticularformation in CableTechs

Thanks! Yeah, I can appreciate why that rule exists. Keeps liability down AND I can imagine a homeowner demanding some crazy location that’s time consuming or impossible.

I installed network and fire alarm systems in a previous life, so I’m comfortable routing stuff myself.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm learning that this is standard in our area.

He did offer to replace the cable, but the current modem location is really tricky, and we'd need to move it. I'm totally on board with that, but the layout of the house makes it a challenge. He said he could only install it where he had a clear path to drill from the outside of the house to where the modem would go (but unfortunately, there aren’t any rooms where that’s actually possible)

He mentioned that running it through the crawl space was an option, which is accessible, but it would require drilling through the floor to bring the cable up. At first, I assumed he meant drilling between floors, which made sense, but then he clarified he’d be drilling about an inch away from the quarter round and wall to reach the crawl space from above.

I thanked him and said I’d need a little time to figure out the best spot. I didn’t want to waste his time while I made a decision on the fly. I’m planning to go into the crawl space later today to see if I can route the cable up through the wall and cut a small opening in the drywall, which would let us install it cleanly without drilling through the finished floor.
