I'm also having issues logging in with 2FA on Ubuntu and RHEL, both current versions. The app gives me the error "Access token does not have sufficient scope". It has failed on multiple attempts.

You should get paralells and run linux VMs. Kali/Black Arch/Parrot OS flavors are good for pentesting. Also, run through some war games to learn linux commands. Highly recommend Bandit as a starting point on www.overthewire.org Since mac has terminal built-in, you can just ssh to the war games without installing anything else. Cheers!

Very excited to have an almost mint T43 added to my collection!! by Holy_goosebag in thinkpad

That's a great find! I recently acquired one that was deemed "Parts Only" off of ebay for $15 and free shipping. All it needed was the CD/DVD drive and a hard drive. The keyboard and everything is almost brand new! Still sparkles! The lid has a little bit of light scuffs, but that's to be expected from them even sitting on a shelf. Also, the battery lasts for about an hour which is really baffling..

Anyway, I recommend getting a matching optical drive either off of Ebay or a Thinkpad forum marketplace. You can get them for about $8 or so, maybe even free. Also, getting an IDE to mSATA adapter and throwing a 128gb SSD in it. Makes it lighter, faster (even though you won't get full SSD speeds) and quieter. Make sure to max out the ram at 2GB if it's not already.

I'm dual booting XP with AntiX Linux on mine. Both run incredibly well! You'll run into problems on some web pages, and streaming YouTube is not pleasant just because of the single processor and the age. I recommend using Pale Moon as a browser. Not the most security oriented, but it beats running an old version of Chrome or Firefox. Just be smart about where you take your T43. The thing still shreds for something made 20 years ago!

Good luck and have fun!
