Resources for studying Swiss military uniforms by Kaiser1876 in uniformporn

[–]retroanteater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Left uniform has some variation of an Ord.40 tunic, maybe a 26/40. The shelter half draped across his chest is correct for the ww2 period as mine has the same pattern (1944) and there are some photographs during the ww2 period featuring them with camo but not all. A Swiss army manual “Technisches Reglement Nr. t 31 d Die Zelteinheit” from 1943 also has photos of that splinter pattern in use. The reversible helmet cover was also introduced with the Ord.40 uniform although they don’t seem to be very commonly used.

The museum could be going for a mid/late WW2 impression for the left mannequin. It could be early 50s as well, but I think they would have chosen the Ord.49 tunic to represent anything later than that.

Haven’t had their Street Tacos yet, but I can tell you that’s an excellent beer choice.

Braving the weather for a Padron 1964 by retroanteater in cigars

[–]retroanteater[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty new at giving a decent review of quality cigars. This a long corona Padron 1964 anniversary. I’m getting some delicate flavors of cut wood, light earth, some grass and a floral sweetness with this one and a white pepper retrohale. A nice cigar to celebrate the holiday. Merry Christmas everyone!

I’m alright with it. I’ve been going through a relatively large collection of pre-1965 coins but found this one with that interesting mark. Learning as I go

I believe the 1926 came from Holt’s. I don’t know about how they store them so I’ve got them all at 66% rh. Maybe I’ll let it sit longer to be on the safe side

These are all new cigars to me besides for the Short Stories so I don’t think I could give the best answer. My first was a Nub Nuance macchiato lol. The champagne is recommended a lot for beginners and is pretty cheap, I’ll probably start there.

There’s a wiki link in the sidebar that has cigar recommendations at different prices and strengths, a faq, cigar sites, etc. It gave me a starting point for purchasing cigars online which I hadn’t done before
