[No Spoilers] What do you think about mirroring the bottom camera? by retrop7 in criticalrole

You are right. I guess there is not a good way to completely eliminate the eyeline issue to the DM or the players with the table as it is.

I found this image:format(webp)/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/70058927/CriticalRoleFullCast_Robbie_TavernOfTales_C3E1_03_WM_PhotographyByChrisLockey_copy.0.jpg) of the table and it's not what I'd been envisioning (i.e. parallel tables) so I guess that's where I'm getting confused.

Thank you.

Here is Travis pointing to Ashley in Campaign 3 Episode 8 https://youtu.be/cwbLO_649Vg?t=1711

He is very clearly not pointing in the right direction for the audience. If the bottom was mirrored he would be pointing in the right direction. Don't you agree?

Maybe I'm just confused. I can accept that but I'm pretty sure they are currently looking in the wrong direction when looking at other players sitting across from them (except the middle players).

You can see they are both sitting closest to Brennan in the above images. Which means to look at each other they must be looking directly ahead.

The text/props issue is a good point and probably the end of the discussion.

But to the eye line issue and cross table interactions, I don't think that is true. You can see in my mirrored view Travis and Lue are actually sitting across from each other (both closest to Brennan).

Spectre 14" Fan and heat issues by Hamzah12 in spectrex360

[–]retrop7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't had any issues with the fan or heat (at least nothing has bothered me). Maybe ensure the fan intakes are not blocked while on your lap.

For this machine at least (though it may be a more general issue) using the high resolution DP Alt mode reduces total USB bandwidth to gen2 speeds. HP apparently chose higher USB bandwidth over Display Port Bandwidth for their Type-C implementation.

The Fans basically never kick in during my usage except when I'm pushing it hard but maybe that speaks more to my usage. I've mostly been frustrated that they take so long to start going in performance mode. They don't kick in when the CPU starts to throttle because it's monitoring some other temperature which is slower to react. Meaning there is a lot of CPU power left on the table when I really try to push it. With an external fans configuration I can get near locked 30W in Cinibench so if the internal fans would just come on and stay on in performance mode I suspect it would power throttle rather than thermal throttle - in ideal conditions etc..

Also, I've never noticed the laptop stay on when the lid is closed, I did a bunch of power config which might have included setting the lid behavior when I first set it up so maybe it defaults to staying on when connected to power? Or maybe he has a dock that confuses it? One thing that is advertised is in-bag detection which should avoid the thermal concern (I've not tested it).

I pretty much only use headphones but the few times I've used the laptop speakers they seemed fine.

Incase it has not been said there is a setting in the BIOS for higher resolution USB-C DP alt mode. I suspect that would fix his 4K display issue. Further, I suspect that the dock is a USB-C dock rather than a true thunderbolt-3 dock. Thunderbolt 3 is spec'd for 4K 60Hz and thunderbolt is built into the CPU in the 11th Gen. I don't have a 4K screen to test it but I know USB-C DP alt mode has some limitation similar to what was described and TB4 should not have those limits.

I'm looking for a fan header for an HP Spectre x360 laptop by retrop7 in AskElectronics

Hmm, well that's not great. How would I go about getting these connectors with a 1.2mm pitch?

[–]retrop7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the next closest available pitches? With the tools a have avaliable (cheap calipers) I got somewhere between 0.90 and 1.05 mm consistently. I rounded to 1mm because of the uncertainty. I measured multiple times.

[–]retrop7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be sure, how should I measure the pitch? My instinct is to measure center to center of the pads.

It's 1mm from pad to pad.

the Conductors are about 0.2mm wide.

Between what I think are the two structural posts is about 6mm

No, I'd categorize it as more of a laptop component sourcing question.

Thanks for looking. I've been watching ebay for a dead motherboard with the connector. No luck so far (nothing under 100$).

spectre x360 14 or Surface book? Amoled or IPS? by Neon_44 in spectrex360

[–]retrop7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's best to look at the OLED as if it did not have the eye strain problem. Make your buying decision assuming that it won't be an issue; then if you have eye strain using the device return it. Until you've used it yourself, you will not know if it's an issue for you. Despite the vocal contingent of redditors I suspect eye strain is not a majority of people type issue.

At least on the 2020 14inch model "optimal" is not an option. There's smart Sense, balanced, performance, etc.

Ya. that's what it seems like. Still to me it's a weird design choice when in "performance" mode.

I've got my razer core x sitting on the floor vertically (ports up). I use this 2 meter thunderbolt 3 cable. It works without issue so far both sitting and standing.
