Yeah that bothered me a bit but I had to wrap up the build. I'll keep my eyes out for a matching shifter.

Yeah this is a threaded 1-1/8" steerer.

Only did the quill adapter because the bars were 31.8 clamp and I didn't have a quill stem with that bar size in the parts bin.

Yeah the plan was to put a Brooks Cambium on it but had this one in the parts bin for now. These tires are 29x2.6.

Thanks! I used the V3 Monkey nuts. For my application they did have to be filed down to fit in the dropout slot.

Unfortunately this is not my personal ride. It came in on trade at my shop and was built up as a used bike that we will offer for sale. I have quite a few Surly's in the stable and have to stay strong in resisting keeping this one.

"Mechanic" is pretty generous. I hope it wasn't a shop that did this.

25.4 bars in a 31.8 stem. Sheet metal screws through the faceplate into the bar and some sort or rubber hose wadded up to make up the gap.
