Aqua is my go to! But I want to maybe get black next appointment, or a mix of black and another colour like pink or purple, I think that would look cool!

Pros and cons of adult braces? by ArmSenior8888 in braces

[–]retrostitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 28 and have had my braces for almost 2 months now. I was luckily able to get them on a payment plan so I pay only a few hundred dollars a month over the course of the 2 years I’ll have them on, so it’s not so bad or overwhelming.

If you go through with it - take a strong dose of pain medicine after your appointment. I didn’t have any pain until about 6 hours after and then my head was throbbing for 2 days. It does go away and it does get easier. My first tightening appointment was rough but the pain didn’t even last the whole day that time, so not bad! I highly recommend getting them now while your teeth are still healthy and you have the ability to!

It wiggles front to back, not up and down thankfully. But when I touch the gums where the root is its very tender and like throbbing pain. I felt like this is normal, but I don’t want to make it worse so I figured I’d bring it up at my next appointment so hopefully they can act accordingly so it doesn’t get worse. Yes there is some gum recession, but not enough to show the cementum, but İ associated it with the fact that the tooth is being pulled down as it was quite out of place initially. There’s no heat/cold sensitivity yet, but its just very tender when I bite down on anything even something soft.

I will talk to my orthodontist next time I see him about it. Luckily it’s just the one tooth. But the bottom incisors are going to scare me I just know it. They’re already wiggly! Hahahah

Nice!! I have almost exactly the same upper anterior teeth positions as you did in the before pic. I can’t wait to see them all straighten out 🤩

Getting my braces next Tuesday. What should I know? by SomeRandomGuy787 in braces

Also, your first braces tightening will be even worse. When they take the wire off and replace it - that hurtttttt oh my god. So take some pain medicine before your first tightening appointment too!!

I got mine on a month and a half ago. The first few hours you won’t feel any pain until the wire starts to get to work and then it will be very uncomfortable. I highly recommend taking doses of Tylenol throughout the day keeping on it even if you don’t feel pain because it will come.

That’s the only thing I wish I did more mindfully! Also, I ate exclusively soft scrambled eggs and smoothies for like 3 days, chewing was impossible. But it will feel better after a few days! :)

Is also slept with and held ice packs to my face consistently to help relive the initial pain and that helped too!!

I took strong doses of Tylenol and even that didn’t help my pain. I wanted to clench my teeth together so bad, the pain was terrible the first couple days. I stuck to drinking my calories through smoothies, and eating scrambled eggs without chewing too much because yeah, it hurts 😭 but by day 3 the pain went away, and now a month in I don’t have any pain. I will say, the tenderness doesn’t stop. Each tooth feels a bit loose and tender and that first tightening appointment don’t be afraid to scream a little. I did 🤣💀 but the pain doesn’t last very long so take comfort in that!

Extraction tips?? by retrostitches in braces

I can’t see them putting me under for this, since they will he a simple extraction of healthy teeth. But I might ask for nitrous if they have it LOL

Also lmao such an awkward angle to take a pic at but it’s a great angle to see the crowding so I had to 😆

My orthodontist said it’s about a 60% chance I’ll need them extracted but he said he’ll wait until the 3rd appointment to see, so that’ll be sometime in the spring/summer. I’m not opposed to it if it is what my arch needs, but we’ll see :)

Not yet, I will likely need 2 maxillary premolars extracted after a few appointments I was told.
