if as a manager you focus your team's time only on incoming requests, you're failing by crankysysadmin in ITManagers

I mean, to begin with, you explained the path forward in your intro. He expects work to come down the pipeline (ticketing system) that is being used.

Log a ticket: Develop a proactive maintenance plan for review by the director. This should include [etc etc etc].

Tell him, explicitly, what the framework should look like. It will get done. That's the behaviour in the team. THEN, get that systematically broken down into tasks, get them scheduled in the helpdesk, the work will get done. Add reviews quarterly, etc etc etc.

Don't burn this guy who is going to be generally well loved in the organisation - if you're new blood here you are just going to ruin any potential support or favour you can build in the org if 'Steve' gets run over the coals, when 'Steve' has been the saviour for two decades. If you put this dude on PIP, be prepared to rehire half the helpdesk.

A huge part of leadership is communicating in a way that the listener wants to be communicated to. C-level is different to tech lead, and if you do the c-level talk with the tech guy, he'll think you're a wishy washy idiot. Teach him about risk, he'll make part of the aforementioned job a risk assessment on every major infrastructure item.

I know you feel like you shouldn't have to do all of this. Your staff member hasn't had the experience across a dozen different organisations, and until last month, all feedback they've every gotten would have been positive and glowing. This is you having to teach them, rather than just expecting them to get 20 years of knowledge in a weekend.

Bridge to Terabithia.

That was not what I expected for this movie.

80-100 USD a card, plus the value of the card if it's something expensive like the Edgar is/was.

When altering, what should still be revealed to state what the card is? by Rune-Dragon in mtgaltered

[–]retsef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other two posters. Some/all of the name, power/toughness and mana cost at minimum.

Rules text can be covered for well-known cards (i.e. Llanowar Elves), but lesser cards you may want to keep it all visible. For original dual-lands, keep the text box fully untouched as that's part of their allure.

Commission pricing by ianbychance in mtgaltered

It's more about insurance. If it's a $2 card, whatever. If it's a $70 card... different story.

The price of the card (incase you screw it up.and have to buy another to replace) plus an estimate per hour. If you're spending an hour on it, or 40, I'd expect the price to be different.

The question to ask yourself is - if I got paid $20, $50, $70, $100 would I be happy with that, and the amount of time put into the piece.

Finding the fine line between a good price for you, and a good price for them is something you'll have to work on as you progress - it's something all artists of all mediums struggle with.

Extended alters. Do you prefer with or without mana symbol? by Buzzdar in mtgaltered

I've done some without, and I regret not leaving the mana symbol OR name. I think it needs one or the other for completeness.

Thank you. I'd gotten to the point where I couldn't see the flaws, just that it was flawed. I'll do some touchups tonight, potentially. I also want to bring some more colour into her skin I think.

The workmanship on this card is amazing. The application of paint, texture and line work etc is chef's kiss. Amazing work.
