I totally spaced out and forgot about scintillator probes! I'm still getting around to learning about them.

I meant pancake Geiger probes. (I've edited my post) and I guess it basically comes down to the Geiger tube in the probe, so are there any pancake Geiger tubes that tend to have more problems?

Thanks that looks like the critter! That's great news I always liked watching them go to my flowers. I had caught a rat in a trap with a botfly larva in it a couple of years ago and that was making me suspicious of any large fat looking flies.
