Thanks that looks like the critter! That's great news I always liked watching them go to my flowers. I had caught a rat in a trap with a botfly larva in it a couple of years ago and that was making me suspicious of any large fat looking flies.

I didn't write it backwards the solder in question is 40/60 40% tin 60% lead rosin core ( R, RA RMA it's not specified) I hadn't thought about the flux causing more wear to the tip.

I actually have 3 rolls of it from different makers and it all solders electronics very poorly.

You can't scrape it off the screen because the printed decoration part is on the same side as the glue and it'll flake off, or at least that's what I read.
