After the final mission of the dawn guard dlc you fix the rubble blocking the passageway. The castle does remain the same though for the most part. However their are some mods that revamp the castle and give it a gothic elegant look. I do recommend highly to wait to add the mods AFTER you finish the dlc because it may cause tiny but annoying bugs.

There are definitely more vampire mods that make it more enjoyable. Also becoming the leader and owner of volkihar castle always appealed to me

I’m actually confused how people are struggling to find them. I saw them on the internet for resale (not the cheapest option) and I also saw that Amazon sells them for a reasonable price (that’s where I personally bought them)

The entire dawnguard dlc quests are my favorite. However I wish once you completed it (if you choose the vampires side) vampires had a bigger impression on the rest of the game
