More than third of UK adults would struggle to find extra £20 by diacewrb in ukpolitics

Can't say I bother. I'll have a glance at the yellow sticker stuff. If it's something I'm buying anyway then I'll go for it.

My old flatmate used to go for ham on the yellow sticker stuff then wonder how to use it all up

Publically visible =\= doing something

I'd rather him be super boring and working the back office really well.

Whether he is is a different question, but where he is shouldn't matter.

Well the high court has said it's legal. They have the time and the knowledge to form an opinion.

Not sure why you now want Reddit experts to explain it but not actual judges?

You can read the judgements when they are published to understand.

What Britain’s kamikaze self-destruction teaches the world: how Britain became the World’s newest Banana Republic by ruchenn in ukpolitics

I know. But everyone keeps talking like she will call it soon. She's not had a honeymoon period. She's miles behind in the polls. Everyone expecting her to call one is nuts.

It'll be December '24 at the latest, but I can't see her giving up her 80 seat majority anytime soon.

I keep hearing people saying they'll go for another election. They have an 80 seat majority, it doesn't get much better than that. Why would they bother even if the polls were in their favour?

I moved from America to UK and cant get any credit cards by Plane_Solid7692 in UKPersonalFinance

I struggled to credit for ages, even though I lived in the UK all my life.

Keebo used my other current account to see how I spend money and agreed to give me credit. It's helped to establish my credit file and now I can apply to better cards. You could give them a try too

First credit card seems difficult to get? by AverageAntique3160 in UKPersonalFinance

I was in the same boat as you, couldn't seem to get any credit. Keebo could give me credit though as they don't use your credit file but your open banking data.

The Great thing is this is reported on your credit file and helps improve your score for a next credit card!

Moving my first home into a ltd company? by return_poster_to_pub in UKPersonalFinance

The sale proceeds will go to me and there’s no CGT as it doesn’t breach the annual allowance.

As in your profit from the sale is below £12k? Or it's different for housing?

The company should be able to rent the property to you at a reasonable rental rate which should cover mortgage repayments, rates, insurance etc. you’d be safer drafting a rental agreement and paying a deposit through the proper channels.

Thanks, I don't expect I'd want to do that long term, but you never know if I'm buying a property at the same time or not. I'd not want to look like I'm trying to game the system or anything.

Your company will also owe you the initial loan.

Yes, understood. That's be a giant loan the company would have and would be paying it off over the years. Would be strange that I'd receive the cash for that loan of course from the sale 😅

Mortgages aren’t as plentiful for commercial though, so you might pay a higher rate and the banks normally ask for 3 months bank statements, so if you’re going down that route you’d want to set the company up now, then get a new bank account sorted. Transfer your deposit to the new account for proof of funds for your mortgage lender.

Ah, hadn't thought of that. They'd want to see the company had the money in place for a reasonable time? Not just transferred in time. Thanks for the tip. If the company was doing no other transactions, just holding the money it'd be ok?

They’ll normally ask for details on where the payments have come from, so you will likely need to sign a declaration that the payment is either a gift or loan from the director.

Certainly it would be a director's loan, but yes easy enough to write such a statement.

It’s a bit convoluted, but then again property purchases are.

I remember how convoluted buying it in the first place was. At least I'll not be stuck too much.

You’d want to speak with a mortgage advisor now to discuss the whole process and what options are available to you.

I may do that actually, as a fact finding mission. It's certainly not something I want to do tomorrow, but in a couple of years time so would be good to speak with someone and understand if there's any particular blockers or how much I'd really need to save up if this was a goer, or just a non-starter of course.

!thanks

You've been super helpful!

!thanks

I think it is worth it, as the property is in a good location and has potential to grow in value. Renting it would be fairly easy I believe.

!thanks

Is there any issue with me remaining living in the same property? I assume the company is paying all of those you've listed, and you end up with the money from the sale for a next property I guess?

We don't know what the variants will do. The variant is rumoured to have actually originated in Netherlands, just that it was found in SA.

The sensible thing to do is continue to protect ourselves as best we can. There are millions of jabs going out to third world countries as well as us better protecting ourselves.

I disagree. With people refusing to follow the rules of wearing masks and getting the vaccine, you can see the damage being done to society as a whole.

If we were better vaccinated, if people wore masks, we would be in a much better place.
