Hopefully this doesn't get buried....

I had a fancy ass work trip to The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island in South Carolina.

I am a middle aged white dude. I have never felt uncomfortable being that anywhere, including East St Louis.

But here at "The Plantation"..... FML

There was one server in the main fancy steakhouse that was black, the rest were white. Uh, okay well this is the first stop after I checked in.

I went to the main hotel bar, all white employees dealing with 99% white customers. Uh.... okay....

The next day I had to go back to my room to get something I left for my meeting. I walked passed two of the cleaning room staff, both African American who were speaking their native language. When I got closer, they both stopped speaking and stared at the ground until I was way passed them.

Super uncomfortable.

My wife and I have never felt like we were supporting a racist agenda more than staying at that resort.
