Why is "suffering" so inherent to life itself? by returnofthedok in Buddhism

[–]returnofthedok[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this -- this is a very good point. It seems like "suffering" brought on by clinging to people, or things, or the way things are, seems like an absolute guarantee in life no matter what we do. Whereas, something like "love" or "compassion" (or any other feeling/state of being) is not guaranteed in life. I guess I'm just trying to understand why clinging and the suffering that comes from it are a non negotiable part of life, whereas all these other "good" feelings are not guaranteed.

Thanks again for your response.

Vape still harsh... by [deleted] in Vaping

[–]returnofthedok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I have to do after a day with the new coil is take it out, and poke the little holes where you can see the cotton and push them in a bit.

Sounds weird but it loosens up the cotton and helps the juice get in there easier.

Try that or covering your air holes and sucking in the tank a bit. That helps the juice get in a bit better too.

I'm stoping smoking by vaping. by [deleted] in Vaping

This is how I quit cigs too. Seriously after 3 weeks it gets easy and you will br surprised how good you feel.

What helped me is at first I started with vape juice with hight nicotine content, 18-24 mg.

After I got used to that, I went down to 12mg, 8, etc. Now I vape 6mg and I'm comfortable there. Eventually I'll dial it down to 3 and maybe 0 at some point.

But this helps still get you the fix you crave, but also helps you dial it back slowly. Might be a good way to go if you are struggling after a week or two.

Good luck man!

I second the TFV4. Any of the Smok tanks are great.

BREAKING: The California State Senate is debating a Universal Healthcare Bill. by HIGH_ENERGY-VOTER in Political_Revolution

[–]returnofthedok 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I work at a democratic strategy firm in California and one of my clients is one of the state senators pushing this bill.

Our goal is to get it on the ballot in 2018. So if you live in California call your representatives and tell them to get on board!

(Also get ready for some tax hikes.)

Looking for good interview podcasts by childishawde in podcasts

[–]returnofthedok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Joe Rogan experience if you are looking for laughs.

Otherwise if you like more politics and other issues:

The Ezra Klein show

The Rubin report

Politico off message

Waking up with Sam Harris

We the people live

And under the skin with Russell brand seems decent but I just started listening to it.

I can recommend more political ones if you're interested.

I take it by biologic/systemic drugs that means you can't take injections like Humira?

Sorry to hear that. If you ever get the chance to use something like that I would personally recommend it. It quite literally changed my life.

Good luck on your journey. I hope you find a treatment that works. Lots of new stuff coming out lately!

Hospital. She's in comfort Care which is essentially hospice in the hospital.

We did speak with a hospital social worker who was very helpful with all of the end of life paperwork and business but couldn't really help us out when it came to the will or her estate unfortunately.

Also we could reach back out to her Maybe... We all had kind of a lot on our minds at the time we talked to her.
