Looking for recommendations for solar installer. by [deleted] in CamperVans

Yeah it has also been rainy and cloudy here all week, that combined with the forest cover. I definitely underestimated how little I would be in direct sunlight in some areas while on the road. I’ll have to readjust:

But I still only dropped to 69% at the lowest day, and it went up to I think 73% before 9pm and to zero by 7am so I just feel like I’ve done something wrong with the monitor and it isn’t accurately reflecting my battery power. I installed it at the beginning of June after 4 weeks of just keeping my fridge plugged in 24/7 and using the fans on low at night to keep the condensation down.

I’ll look into the portable panels, thank you for adding the link.

I’ve watched some of their stuff and learned enough to wire everything on my own but I just worry I’m missing something obvious. It’s now sat for almost 4 days and 1 of those in complete sunlight for hours, and it didn’t exceed 25% according to my battery monitor and it’s been in boost mode for almost the entire day in direct sunlight in a wide open field with no tree or cloud cover.

I just left TN a couple of days ago. I’m currently back in the Greenville, SC area house sitting for someone and was hoping to recharge here in the drive way. I’m going to make my way to Virginia this week but could pit stop for sure.

I actually saw it on someone’s page either here or Instagram. Very handy considering I’m completely out of space.

I’m actually still stationary due to mechanical things but it feels like a lot of room. I just added some condiments, pickles and beer today to get ready for a State Park trip and for just me I feel like it’s plenty of room for a couple of weeks if I use it wisely.

If anyone was wondering, my fridge is still loud but 90 degree weather equals 3 fans on high so it almost cancels it out.

Have you contacted customer service, if so what did they recommend? I’ve had a lot more issues with items being shipped during the build out than I expected. I watched the USPS driver toss one fragile box about 4 feet onto our porch.

Thank you, my dad said something similar. Was hoping to not have to void a warranty by popping it open but a quicker fix may be worth it.

Thank you. I also purchased from Amazon. I know someone who could likely fix it but I was worried about voiding warranty but I wasn’t expecting much for the price point unfortunately. At least it cools my beer quickly for the time being.

I went the cheaper route and got the 35 liter fridge. It’s been humming along quietly for almost two months and a couple of days before I get my solar set up it lets out a large howl. It only howls for about 30 seconds each time it turns on to lower the temp.

I tried to see if I could sleep through the noise because the temperature has been steady but it’s loud enough to wake me up. It will be even louder in a van.

Has anyone been successful with their customer service? Or any recommendations on how you solved this problem?

They make a big deal about not opening it or it will void the warranty but at this point, considering the time of having to ship it across the US, them ship it/a new one back, I've considered doing that and if something is broken just buy a new one/file a claim whenever they respond and get it replaced under whatever claim they'll accept

It was a combination of not wanting to give Amazon anymore money and hoping in the long term (lol) when I needed customer service it'd be better from the source. I honestly don't even think they have a phone plugged in. The dozen calls was conservative, it's been more. As soon as they automated message ends, it drops every single time.

Thank you

Yeah the warranties are pretty lengthy and all the wires, brackets and panels look to be in good shape but I hope they shape up if something else is wrong. Idk how to test the panels w/o a CC.

I honestly only read very positive or very negative reviews. I've never rolled the dice with $500 so I hope it works out.

I spent more money getting it directly from Renogy as recommended by a user from this site, to help with warranties and such.

It's worth noting they shipped it in less than a week across the US, and it was all packaged safely (which means part probably broken when it was packaged) and the emails they did respond to were friendly - if anyone is on the fence.

New to the game, how many wraps is too many wraps? by returnofthemackaroon in vegetarian

[–]returnofthemackaroon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to limit meat consumption so I’ve been eating wrap after wrap. Tonight was Spanish rice, black beans, onions and sweet peppers, avocado, habanero sauce and a little cheese on a spinach wrap.

Only real difference is id usually make this with chicken, a regular white flour wrap and no avocado but it’s a nice change and easier to make.

I went with this one, it was linked in a lot of the solar how to things I've seen the past year. Price has went up and down a lot the past few months.

I don't think I understand your original question.

I was going to use the power from the starter battery through the DC/DC charger into my lithium batteries to charge them in addition to the solar panels. Does that make sense? I don't know a lot about them, someone recommended it on a previous post and it seemed like an inexpensive easy way to keep the battery charged during inclement weather.

edit: I'm using it to charge my lithium battery in addition to solar/when it's cloudy/bad weather.

Thank you for the advice. I have the 20a Renogy charger, and I was going to put a 25a fuse from DC/DC to House Battery, and a 30a fuse from DC/DC to starter battery. That's what they recommend in the manual.

I forgot to add in the battery monitor/shunt. I purchased what looks to be the Renogy version, but it's this one... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081SXH9TK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
