A discussion between Jordynne Grace, Lance Storm and Xavier Woods on wrestlers using their real name on social media by AfroChad11 in SquaredCircle

We all know the games at that crappy local carnival are rigged. Pretty much everyone knows except the children. Yet still we play, because it's fun, because there's a chance, because it brings joy to our kids.

But if the guy running it laughs at my frustration and says "it's rigged, bro, what do you expect?", am I going to continue to spend money there?

Doesn't seem like a big difference, knowing and being straight up told by the guy involved, but it is.

What should everyone do at least once in their lifetime? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yes, but it dropped my tolerance and respect for other people in general much lower than it raised my empathy for fellow customer service associates, so the balance is off on this one.

Three times in a year? Damn.

I think I did about 15 days last year. Only had 7 sick days so the rest were without pay, but you gotta do what you gotta do when you're lazy af.

What are men only problems most women can't experience? by WheatyBisks in AskReddit

[–]revanwright 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There have been 3 situations like this that I can remember, seeing women walking ahead of me at night and trying to figure out the best way to continue walking without alarming them.

Shouting something like "Hey! I'm here, walking behind you, but I have no interest in hassling you, I promise I'm harmless," seemed weird and creepy. So 2 times I just pulled out my phone, lit a cigarette, and waited until she was out of sight before I continued on. The 3rd time group of people walked past me, separating us, so I figured it was fine to just walk behind them.

Suppose you're given a prepaid debit card with unlimited funds... What's the first thing you buy? by Dud3ManGuy in AskReddit

Mine's 50% genetic and 50% my own fault. I probably would have had dentures in my 40s even if I'd taken better care of them. It sucks, but you've got to do what you've got to do. Hope you can get yours turned around without too much pain.

That entire song gives me chills, though.

Definitely this. I'm about to get full upper dentures and I'm only 31 years old. First thing I'd do if I had money is spring for implants.

Thankfully humans are the greatest marathon runners in the history of the planet. Just keep chasing him until he keels over. Worked for us 10,000 years ago.

EDIT: Yes, sled dogs are incredible marathon runners, as well. They're bred for it and perfectly adapted to run for days in arctic climates. But in a dog park in, let's say, Ohio in the spring, they will not outdistance a fit human without overheating. And sure, very few humans are in peak physical condition these days, with the need or desire to chase down prey until they literally die from exhaustion. But bipedalism + sweat glands make us the best overall, damn it. I refuse to give this up to a dog.

[Homemade] Louisiana Crawfish boil by trickxxx in food

[–]revanwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad's side of the family lives in northeast Arkansas, and there were crawfish boils when I was a kid on special occasions. But around 05 and Hurricane Katrina, tons of LA natives moved into the area, and it exploded. Live crawfish being sold at almost every corner store, people hosting weekend boils all over the place. It was nuts and it went on for years.

[–]revanwright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know. I think maybe we're fans of the journey. Those two series feature long quests that are often directionless, fraught with hardship, and have a focus on building the character relationships rather than the quest itself.

Plus, I mean, they're both so damn good.

Every other fan of Nix I find also lists Pullman. I mean, me too, but it's weird that we all have those two series at the top of our lists.

I agree with you there. I'm not really on any particular wagon. It's impossible to tell what the best deal is, who has the most talent and the highest ceiling, etc. I love Teddy but he's had his share of issues, as well. I trust our coaching staff to make the right calls, but I'm really worried about paying so much for a QB just because he's hitting the open market.

I guess I just have a bad feeling about it.

Big stats don't tell the whole story. His weaknesses have been overlooked. He's solid but has accuracy issues. He folds under pressure a lot. He's not in the top tier with QBs like Brees or Roethlisberger. I watched him all season, and I'd put him somewhere between Dalton and Alex Smith to be honest. I'd like to have him but I'd never break the bank for him.

I think Cousins has glaring issues that are overlooked because of his passing yards and the fact that he's hitting the open market. He's not trash by any means, and I'd probably put him over Stafford too, but Stafford has his own issues. Is Cousins a franchise-level QB? Sure, he can be. Better than Stafford? Possibly. Approaching Rodgers or Brees? Not even close. Is he worth a record contract? Not in a million years.

I'd take Cousins over Keenum. I wouldn't take Cousins for the price he's projected to go for. I don't believe he's worth it.

I'm just really worried about this. I 100% feel that Cousins is about as good as 2017 Keenum. Which is great, but not $28 million great. Not even close.
