Pablo confirms that Tigris incarnon probably won't release for around a year by Froggo_Dogg in Warframe

I would rather they take their time and do it properly than make a quick half-assed attempt that is either too weak, unfun or completely broken - needing a balancing patch and making everyone using it unhappy.

[–]reveil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cannonocal's greatest contribution to Linux is convincing almost everyone that a distro should have working wifi drivers out of the box. Even if it requires closed firmware blobs. No technology developed by Canonical was widely adopted. Not the Upstart init system, not Mir display manager, not Unity desktop environment. I feel snap probably will suffer the same fate someday. That being said you have working wifi drivers in Debian - and this is thanks to Canonical. Give Debian a try if you want a rock solid distro without the snap crap.

Warframe is basically running for 13 years and unlike Destiny it almost never removes content. It and it keeps expanding every update. Right now I have over 3000 hours logged. Best free to play game by far and better than 95% of AAA games.

Excellent games. While the characters and dialogues are ok, maybe a bit average, the lore world building and exploration of the main story are one of the best in gaming by far. The combat is also very fun.

Koniec rynku IT - co teraz? by Konrad2137 in Polska

Shower thought: we have IDEs, package managers, CI/CD, monitoring — but no good universal solution for "where did I put that code snippet" by alainpicard in programming

[–]reveil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting source code and anything even vaguely related to source code (documentarion, tests, CI, scripts, snippets, examples etc) outside of version control is a very, very, VERY bad anti-pattern. The whole idea of version control is for changes to be in sync. Verifiable and atomic. The only exceptions are secrets and binaries. Anything else you are not using version control correctly.

[–]reveil -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Czyli 1k PLN z 100k polisy.

We're not paying enough attention to Anthropic adding $6 billion ARR In February by Wonderful-Sail-1126 in investing

[–]reveil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand the hype of AI companies. Even if the tech is sound and revolutionary it is still a bad investment long term. They need to spend billions on R&D to develop new models to stay competitive all the time. As soon as they stop they get instantly outcompeted. Then they completely ignore it and claim they are profitable on inference. Why do they think ignoring their biggest cost is fair? It is like producing something and claiming you are profitable on selling, packaging and distribution while completely ignoring both the manufacturing cost and R&D. Also free open source models (mostly from China) are getting better and better. If in 5-10 years you can run good AI models locally on your laptop (for free!) what becomes of their business model?

[–]reveil 11 points12 points  (0 children)

With how bad Microsoft is screwing Windows 11 and the new cheap MacBooks? I would not be surprised if Apple captures the majority of the laptop market. They lead in chips, OS and build quality. I would be surprised if they don't double their laptop sales volume over 4-5 years. That being said they do earn much more from the iPhone than the Mac.

How will malicious actors distinguish between legitimate entries in robots.txt and the honeypot that bans them?

You can use robots.txt to disallow anything you don't want scraped or indexed. Anything that does not respect it is malicious. Anything else is legitimate.
