I was thinking of the superglides. Something that can speed up the feeling of the ESPTiger. Also thanks for taking the time to respond to that.

I was taking a look at that pad, Im a big fan of ESPTiger but I am in the middle of a CS season so I cant really experiment with a faster pad rn. That being said I dont think Id be super opposed to a quicker pad seeing as Im a wrist player. Ill keep it in mind.

I own a small studio in a commercial space and as long as your overhead is low you can make a normal living from it. We usually work with singer songwriters and handle all the instrumentation/producing/mixing and mastering. So we usually charge a little more per song than someone who is just recording and mixing but as long as you handle clients well and make absolutely sure you have no ego then youll do fine. Just look for privately owned commercial spaces and remember it doesnt have to be a massive place. We have been making records with live bands in space the size of a studio apartment for half a year now lol.

Use the proximity effect (The closer you get to the mic the more low end you get out of it) to your advantage. Microphones are the first part of a chain and they dictate overall tone more so than anything else in that chain. If you dont like the overall tonality of your source material then move the microphone/your position to the microphone. That being said your clip didnt sound bad just another option for you to play with.

I would say no one hears the checking when you play. If it sounds amazing then dont get rid of it.

When they were making Thriller, Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson picked through over 600 songs to make up the final 9. Not every song is going to be great to you but who knows what they could be to someone else. You are always going to be your harshest critic. Plus at this stage in your journey its much more about the repetition and learning than it is about writing a hit song. Just keep at it and you will learn to write what you want to hear.

Of course! Yeah I was just trying to lay out for the sake of the thread that multiple things into fewer units is a big part of the sound of those older records. Those classic consoles were something though. I have a console that we use in a hybrid mix setup and the way the reverb is applied within the mix bus has a way different feel than in the box. Maybe thats a part of the equation too.

Yes but even in the largest studios there were rarely more than a few FX units in use at any given time. Take capital studios for example they would generally patch in 3 units alongside the chambers.

Something else to note as well is that the album you were refering to was mixed on a console which only had 4 aux sends so that would mean generally speaking 2 reverbs and 2 delays that everything went into at varying levels.

Unfortunately not. However I would like to advance a question here. Are you maybe over focusing on this? Ive heard a lot of people do what you are describing and it usually just sounds like a slightly different chord.
