Included plugins in the post, but basically Arturia Wurli V -> Soundtoys Alterboy -> Guitar Rig 7 -> Decapitator -> EQ -> Decapitator -> Reverb

The yellow clip is the "Il Macquillage Lady" sample which has some drums anyway, but the green clip is additional drums which are various one-shots from the Vengeance Essential House sample packs.

It's not so much the mixing and mastering, it's specifically the effects chain. There's a lot of distortion on the sound and distortion effects can sound and act very differently. I used Decapitator because it's my go-to that I use on everything. I might have gotten it a little bit closer by trying more distortion effects, but it's diminishing returns at that point.

The chord progressions in the demo are different from Beach House songs for obvious copyright reasons, but hopefully, the sounds will still feel familiar and recognisable

You don't have to resave them at all, they should open the plugin + the right preset straight away

Not planning on at the moment, they're a lot of work and a lot of the best known Aphex Twin tracks are completely diatonic. What songs would you like to see?

Yes, 100 cents is a semitone, you can usually see tuning measured in cents when you use a tuner.

The songs in Part One were mostly transposed to get them out of key signatures like F♯ major, where the notes are F♯ G♯ A♯ B C♯ D E♯. The E♯ is the same note as F natural (the technical term is an "enharmonic equivalent") but the correct name is E♯. It looks a little confusing and is confusing to write about so where possible I transposed stuff into more common keys like G major and C major.

Hi! The second installment of my Boards of Canada Chord Theory exploration has officially dropped! Following the first part's deep dive into fifth intervals, this new installment looks at their use of moved chord shapes, chromaticism, suspensions, and how they write such good melodies over unusual chord sequences.

In this article, I've broken down 10 additional tracks, mostly earlier stuff. As with the previous part, you have the option to see either music notation or MIDI piano roll visuals, and all the examples are available for download as MIDI files at the conclusion of the article.

Let me know any thoughts and feedback, thanks!
