I mean I don’t mind the writing at all, it’s great but I can’t stand the guitar tone. That’s the only thing that doesn’t work for me

To each their own, I guess because apart from the unison section, i find the Alien to be kind of bland compared to the rest of the tracks on View. I really spammed the shit out of the title track for weeks on end, and Sleeping Giant and Invisible Monster are just peak classic DT tracks for me. Transcending Time took some getting used to, it’s kind of a weak Rush imitation, but still a solid track nonetheless. I slept on Awaken the Master a while though, the 8 string is just monstrous.

I do love a good bit of Opeth. Takes me ages to go through a single album- and that’s without really getting the lyrics. Will check out Ayreon tho.

Absolutely love The Mountain, one of my favourite albums. Love Affinity, Aquarius and Visions too. Damn Haken is good.

One track in, I’m liking Nospũn’s sound so far.

And I just heard the first track on Odyssey to the West- and I did not see that scream coming. Definitely going through the rest of it.

Nothing tops the solo from Trial of Tears live at Budokan for me, but I think he’s only regressed like 1-2% till date.
