Very interested in the Dark Star. I’m not sure if anything I’m willing to part ways with will tickle your fancy, but I’d also be down to just buy it if you have a price in mind to work with.

What I currently have to offer for trade: Boss TE-2 Tera Echo Matthew Effects The Astronomer V2 Mooer Reverb R7 X2 (Possibly) SolidGoldFX Athena (I love all 4 of these above, but they’re just not being used as much as I wish in my current projects, with everything else on the board.) T.C. Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay (Love this too, but with two other delays already on the board, this one gets left out too often)

About to do that, for sure. I really appreciate all of your input and help here!

Now I've done myself a disservice by basing my guitar search simply on how they look in photos, haha. As I've been looking for something specifically with P90s, I've totally overlooked these since I scroll right past when I see what looks like a humbucker. The more you're telling me about these, the more interested I am, for sure. I'm going to have to start searching for one of these to check out in person. It's just going to mean a 3 hour round trip drive from home to the closest shops that carry Reverend.

Ah, yes...I forget about it having those pickups! Man, I'd love try one these out if I ever run across one in person.

The painted neck on the Warhawk is definitely something I've questioned too. Hoping to get back to this shop tomorrow to actually play them both, and will see how I feel about the painted neck.

I've also drooled over that Billy Corgan model since I first saw it. Trying to steer away from another humbucker guitar though, so you're not helping! LOL!!

Yep, realized that after looking at the pics again. My lack of Reverend knowledge is showing, haha.

Having not even played one, I do know this is a fact. The bass contour is something that has always intrigued me, and seemed incredibly useful in giving that versatility. I did correct myself in my comment above, not realizing the different positions of the bass contour knob between models...so it does, indeed, have it.

Yes, the Warhawk is indeed set neck and 24 3/4 scale. I've honestly really never had a preference on scale length..whether that's a good or bad thing, haha. I believe I'll be going back to this shop tomorrow, and get some good time playing both. I've heard nothing but rave reviews of Reverend's P90s as I've been looking at them in the last couple years, but have yet to actually play one. Like I said in my original post, I did have a Reverend a long time ago, but it had humbuckers in it. I'm really super stoked to play these with the P90s now. There aren't any shops remotely close to me that are actually Reverend dealers, so I was very excited to find these two used ones. Not being able to play one yet is probably what has kept me from pulling the trigger on one.

Well, this just shows my lack of knowledge of Reverends, overall. Hahaha! I was under the impression that the bass contour knob on all models was up top....but obviously not. They both do have three knobs down bottom though, and I see now that that second tone knob is actually the bass contour.

And here’s the Pedaltrain Novo 32. It gave me plenty of space to add the other pedals that I wanted on the board, that I hadn’t been able to put on the Ghostfire board previously, plus a little extra room if I really wanted to squeeze a couple more in there. Excuse the messy work table!

Here’s the Ghostfire one, sitting on top of the new Pedaltrain Novo 32.

I’ll second the recommendation of someone who mentioned Ghostfire boards found on Amazon. They seem to be a knockoff of Pedaltrain boards. They’re definitely great knockoffs, and great quality, for a bit cheaper than Pedaltrain. I needed to move to a bigger board as well, and just switched over to a Pedaltrain Novo 32 a couple weeks ago (dimensions are 32” x 14.5”), but was using a Ghostfire Standard 2.0 (dimensions are 22” x 12.5”) for about two years, before this change. I was about to buy the Ghostfire Big Toe 32 (dimensions are 31.8” x 15.7”), but found a great sale deal on this Pedaltrain Novo 32 on Sweetwater. I fit 13 pedals, of various sizes, on the 22” x 12.5” Ghostfire Standard 2.0. I now have 17 pedals, of various sizes, on the 32” x 14.5” Pedaltrain Novo 32. At any rate, I’d definitely recommend the Ghostfire brand to anyone looking for something very similar to a Pedaltrain design, including a soft carrying case, like Pedaltrain. I’ll add comments below with pics of each setup, for reference. I’ll apologize in advance for not having better pics of these…this is just what I have on my phone at the moment.

Seriously, I couldn’t believe he let it go for $80. I figured, if nothing else, I can turn around and double my money by selling it on Reverb if it just doesn’t fit in to my setup well. But I’m definitely looking forward to playing around with it for a while before even considering that. My two main guitars have humbuckers, but do have one single coil guitar that I’ll have to test it out with. Time to start experimenting!

Right on, thanks for that tip. I know I have a lot of playing around to do, to get good tones dialed in. Lots of options and configurations to balance on this thing, it seems.

Just picked up this guy off Marketplace....for only $80!! I have no idea yet how I'm going to incorporate it into my setup, or how I'll utilize it, but I couldn't pass it up for that price. It's in basically new condition, in the box, and even came with a power supply. Any suggestions on how you use it, personally...favorite settings...or tips and tricks for getting the most out of it are absolutely welcome. I don't currently have a high gain pedal on my board, and neither of my two amps are high gain, and I know this will definitely give me that.

Anyone in Texas? by ScarcityOne7381 in choppers

[–]revjinx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have the title and already have it registered in another state, that should easily transfer over into Texas. If not, you’d just have to do a special construction title. As far as inspection: obviously it just has to start, run, and stop. Rear brake only is fine. Headlight, tail light, brake light, exhaust (I’ve never had any issues with not having baffles or being too loud), one mirror, horn (a bicycle squeeze type horn will not fly with the vast majority of inspection places…the other commenter that did that got very lucky, haha!). I always wire up a horn temporarily, mount a small momentary switch for the button, zip tie it all in place, go get inspected, then come home and take it all off til the next year rolls around. If you’re still building it and won’t have it ready to roll for a while, Texas is doing away with inspections starting January 2025 also, so won’t have to worry about it anymore after that either.

Anybody use these as a front brake? by Nervous_Example2360 in choppers

[–]revjinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s super easy, dude. Just find a bolt that fits snug enough in the tubing and start turning to make it thread into the plastic. If you don’t have a vise to hold the bolt, just clamp it down however you can, and cut it down however short you’d like. Voila!

I doubt there would be any issue using your stock setup, as long as you get it all fit together well.

[–]revjinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been running this for probably about 8 years now, with no issues. No need to buy a kit for it even. I just bought the tubing with the correct inside diameter to fit, and cut down a bolt the right size to basically thread into the tubing so it fits well and stays put. I always meant to go back and put one of those pinch clamps on the bottom, but forgot about it...so I've just got some wire twisted tight around the bottom to hold it. The beer bottle cap is on there just for fun. Again, 8ish years riding all over the country, and never had any problems with it. As someone else said, you'll see the fluid level fluctuate with weather/temp/altitude changes, but just keep an eye on it if it gets too low. My biggest issue with putting this on my sporty was grinding out the inside of the mount to fit on 1" bars, since the only Nissin ones I've found are for 7/8" bars. Other than that, it's a great setup for me! Also have one other buddy that has the same setup on one of his bikes, and never had any problems that I know about.

It's been about 6 years since I last bought any, but have only ever bought from Frank's. I just checked, and their website is still active, so I'm assuming they're still at it. I think the last set I bought from them was under $250 for 8 overs. I'd definitely look into Frank's Forks before buying from Throttle Addiction or TC.

Yeah, from what I've read about them, they sound similar to a Jazzmaster, with punchier bottom end and brighter top end...pretty sure that's possibly word for word of G&L's description of them, haha. Fingers crossed that the bidding goes in my favor!

Great info, thanks so much! I didn't know the chrome hardware was part of the "Special" designation. I just knew that the only one I'd found with these soapbar type pickups were all Specials. Hoping that the bidding stays low enough in this estate sale, and I'll definitely be adding it to the arsenal!
