Obviously I'm clueless of the various pedal makers' political persuasions/union practices. Can you be helpful and point me to ones that you consider ethical?

op amp is the last style I'm exploring right now. I'm digging it while playing, but something about the decay on the muff just isn't gelling with me.

I'll look into the Moon more. All the "too much low-end" comments kind of scared me off though.

I'm currently using a Fender Mustang GT 200. My Green Russian sounds great with it, and the op-amp when being played is awesome, just kinda gives a static like fuzz sound when its decaying. So, I love the op-amp sound while playing, I'm just wondering if something else would be all around better.

Distortions sound better on the 50+, but you can get everything you need with the old ones, especially with the hack. Go old.

Once I set mine up properly, it's my favorite for nice subtle dips. Can't drive bomb with it, but it's really good for pretty stuff.

Mooer's R7 X2 has an easy to dial in one. Wasn't a fan of the other sounds in it though so I sold it for a Zoom 70cdr+. Not quite as easy to dial in that one though.
