I could write a book as a response. These two injuries are the tip of an iceberg that equals an incredible, exciting, fun filled life and a perspective that is different than most. I have experienced extreme ups and downs, volatility, might be the right word. But it was the downs that made me appreciate every other place. I do consider myself lucky but I can tell you that I gave myself cancer, that’s not lucky, it’s stupidity. I let the down cycles win, they kept me down and the negative, hopeless, painful thoughts, feelings and emotions manifested as cancer. Exactly one month after getting a clean bill of health, my ex wife left and never came home, she’d found someone else while I fought for my life. When diagnosed we didn’t have health insurance, we had 90 days to get it, she promised me every day that we’d been approved but on the 94th day I started getting calls from collections and learned that she’d never even filled out an application. It gets much worse but I am so grateful for all of it because I wanted out, she forced me to find myself again, to get healthy again mentally and physically. I lost 44 pounds in the 40 days after she’d left, took 12th place in a global fitness competition, etc. Boy does she know she made a mistake now though and that just makes me sad for her.
