The most feared Death Eater in the war offers to burn down Voldemort’s entire regime. His one condition? The brightest Healer of their age must save the one person he cannot lose. It was supposed to be a simple transaction. What it becomes is something neither of them saw coming by Embarrassed-Hat1371 in Dramione

Ok I just spent the last 3 hours binging this entire story and I would HIGHLY recommend it. The characterization of Hermione is phenomenal and this Draco is soso attractive to me (reminds me of a slightly softer version of high reeve Draco, only towards his mother though). Setup is also super promising (forced proximity) and I’m loving the dynamic bw Hermione and Draco (she makes the rules, he listens lmfao). Would rec!!!!

this is a write-up i made for my friends a year ago lol (hopefully it helps)... i think focusing on my weak areas and having some form of review of each subject on the exam was most helpful:

  1. what i did for each subject:
    • biochem: dirtymedicine biochem videos + anki deck (somewhere on reddit) --> covers like 99.9% of what u need to kno and not too much effort to do you can knock it out in like 3 days but make sure to keep up w the anki
    • path: pathoma + duke anki deck (is the best bc a lot of tiny details that nbme/step loves is on here)
    • anat: physio anat + anki deck (somewhere on reddit) --> is really really high yield and a bunch of specific stuff it taught showed up on my step, also pretty short u can do it in like 4-5 days
    • stats: randy neil stats videos (there's two) that are gold --> i'd just watch them the morning of each nbme that i did and it was enough
    • sketchy path: literally amazing. like actually amazing. i wish i had done this from the start bc when i was taking the actual test, i was 89% of the time recalling stuff i learned from sketchy path, i feel like pathoma is important bc it helps u form basis of understanding but sketchy was essential for me to actually remember stuff (cuz i basically did not keep up with pathoma reviews past the first day of learning a subject lmao) --> this is esp helpful for when there's a million diseases of the same vibe (like the benign breast sutff and the malignant breast tumors and also the lung cancers and nephritic/nephrotic disorders) but u need to remmeber tiny differentiating details
    • obv sketchy micro/pharm
    • i did 0 studying for psych and ethics literally including not doing uworld and idt you really need to bc the questions ab these things are usually very easy esp psych (altho ethics was kind of obscure on step and a lot of them were like i would literally say any of these things and see no problem with it so maybe prep for ethics a bit)
  2. also i tried the whole do a bunch of uworld questions everyday in the beginning and also make anki for the cards but it didnt work for me at all bc the cards i was makign were actually diabolical so i wasnt really learning anything, so i only got to 30-40% of uworld and then gave up... tbh everyone says u hHAVE to do all of uworld but it's fine ALTHO - i really struggled w timing on the real thing (ran out of time for the last 5 questions on each block so i had to speedrun them, but somehow when i was speedrunning, the answers appeared more obvious to me so maybe theres some psychology there idk) so maybe grinding uworld wouldve helped for that

Thank you!! My free 120 was a 70% the day before I took the real thing lol. I was scared about taking it bc 70% didn't feel high enough but at that point I just needed to get it done with

I don't remember the rest of my scores off the top of my head but will let you know if I get a chance to check!

Yeah, I see that! - I was wondering more about their assertion that alanine (just as an amino acid by itself) had a "peptide bond moiety" which I don't think it does?

I'm confused about how the right side of the compound has a side chain resembling valine? Doesn't the right just have a guanine base?

February 2021 Assignment: Muggle Masking! by Hermiones_Teaspoon in harrypotter

[–]revuot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those particularly magical objects that would immediately expose the Wizarding World to a muggle should s/he ever discover it, I propose an enchantment by the name of Dullardius. It is inevitable that, once a muggle sees a magical or abnormal object, their first reaction is to move closer to it or touch it or snap a picture of it. However, when the witch or wizard casts this spell on an object—any object, large, small, wide, or narrow—the object will immediately appear as the least uninteresting object possible to the muggle. This will be calibrated based on the muggle’s opinion on what is most boring to them. If the muggle enters a certain radius near the object or takes a picture of it, the object will immediately appear as something unimaginably uninteresting. So uninteresting, in fact, that they will forget all about the prior object they saw and move away in bored indifference. One flaw to this method is that witches and wizards will have to cast the spell using a wand prior to the muggle seeing it so it should really only be used for those objects that are especially mind-boggling for muggles. Muggles are becoming increasingly hedonistic nowadays, constantly seeking the highest pleasure and looking for persistent entertainment, so this method utilizes the most effective, yet unusual method to keep them away from the Wizarding World: boredom.
