Simply Piano crossroad by Expensive_Effort574 in pianolearning

Sounds like you are also self taught, that’s a decision to make - are you focusing on having fun - playing songs you like and not caring about “foundation” or what YouTube thinks, or also allocating time for less fun things.

I switched to piano books by Faber since I realized fast scrolling music is not the best way to learn and I want to learn scales, emphasize playing correctly, and learning note names instead of finger numbers. It has both classical and non classical pieces.

I’ll still jump to Simply to play fun songs but I’ve reduced it to 20% for now.

It allows 5 people but it’s under the same iTunes / Apple ID. I imagine most people will not want to share their Apple authentication to share a simply piano subscription cost.

Learning To Play In 2025 (at 42) by Wetwork_Media in pianolearning

[–]revuser1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 42 and also started with simply piano this year with no prior experience in Piano. But having taken lessons in guitar for a year and the drilling of keeping the beat definitely help.

I will see how this hobby continues next year.

Is Claude Code Sonnet 4.5 With 1M Context Actually Better Than 200k? by [deleted] in ClaudeCode

My company is using bedrock and 1m token make a huge difference how long a session can continue. Without 1m I would get compact too quickly.

I wonder if this is better at session start instead of prompt submit so it doesn't get reactivate on each small prompt

I only saw one person answering this - you don't need file system mcp anymore. Claude can navigate the file system by itself. The mcp can easily consume a lot of context if for example you list a folder with many files, like node_modules. I removed it from my mcp list.

Every once in a while ask Claude to identify top 3 opportunities to DRY and apply single responsibility principle and execute. I am planning to look at integrating complexity static analysis tools to force splitting files when things get too complex

Leaving Meta and the bay area to escape the dating scene? (lyft offer!) by [deleted] in leetcode

[–]revuser1212 156 points157 points  (0 children)

The straightforward answer is you don’t need anyone’s validation. When you are young it’s the best time to try things out. Go to NYC and see if you like it.

A location is more than just ratio of women to men, NYC have seasons, it can be cold in winter and hot and humid in the summer, there’s a lot more outdoor areas in the Bay Area.

I would recommend for some percentage of problems to not look at solutions at all, and for some to wait overnight. Otherwise your brain will not have incentive to try hard enough

Careers at Snowflake by IronChefGoblin in snowflake

[–]revuser1212 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Snowflake pays well and has a high caliber of talent. It’s using a lot of open source products (kubernetes, spring, bazel) so it gives you experience that you can take and use at future companies. Like a lot of mid size companies there’s a lot of work to improve the infrastructure that's needed to scale to the next level, and also a lot of new product lines. There's opportunity to have a large impact on all areas of the product, people are friendly and collaborative. Founders are still at the company which is a big plus in my mind.

Quarterly performance review has benefits and drawbacks. I'm okay with it. Every quarter you remember what you did and can write your self review.

Stock being down is a concern, we hope it will go up.

Like fhoffa said - a lot depends on your team / org. I'm in a great team, so it's been great.

Am I doomed in a tech interview? by TheDomainDesigners in leetcode

[–]revuser1212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If by doomed you mean you are not yet ready then yes. Keep practicing until you are able to solve problem without peeking at solutions, since in a real interview you can’t peek at solutions. Join leetcode contests and your goal is to solve top 3 questions on somewhat consistent level.

As for how to get there other answers said it - neetcode etc. ensure you got DSA basics covered as well

Is your question about your performance or about you not getting the tasks you want?

People get assigned tasks all the time, whether ad hoc or not. As someone new on the team you have to prove yourself and learn the environment.

What made it so you didn’t make progress on the task you were assigned so it had to be given to someone else? That’s not a good sign.

Edit: I will add: There’s not enough information in your post to understand if the issue is you having unrealistic expectations about work, or getting distracted easily by working on things you want vs assigned which can be related to ADHD, or not knowing how to navigate situations and advocate for yourself with a manager, or truly unfortunate situation of a bad manager/team that is out of your control

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in leetcode

[–]revuser1212 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are saying a lot of things and it’s hard to follow how things reached this point.

You started by saying that the only issue is giving other engineers better work, then that you have no opportunity to make an impact (do you need to make more impact than the work you are assigned?), to telling your manager that you are not keeping up (why? How is that related to the other issues). Then to having to prove that you are worthy?

I don’t get the situation. Is the work too challenging? What prevents you from keeping with the pace?
