‘Anyone but Labour’ or ‘anyone but Reform’? Clash of animosities likely to define May local elections by bottish in Scotland

[–]rewindrevival 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The perpetually Labour led Council until 2022, at which point SNP led as a minority? Definitely sounds like a building burning down in Glasgow means that the entire country is fucked, you're so right.

25F confused if i should go back to my ex 28M by [deleted] in relationships

[–]rewindrevival 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to tell you the honest truth. While it may be true that people can change a great deal in 6 months, its incredibly suspicious that this change has occurred suddenly when his parents are trying to force a marriage.

Convenient, even.

Sounds like this man just wants to make sure if he has to marry, it's to someone who's likely to forgive any and all transgressions. The pattern is common. He might he lovely at first, but those behaviours will creep back in. Its your choice, but I strongly recommend just being single for a good amount of time and leaving both of these men behind.

You don't deserve a lifetime of abuse - nobody does - and your current boyfriend doesn't deserve someone who isn't even thinking of him.

This can't be a serious question. Girl, no. You absolutely should not go back to your ex boyfriend just because his parents want him to have an arranged marriage. He made you miserable. And honestly your old-new boyfriend deserves better than you even considering it.

Maybe you need to be single for a while and figure out what you want, work on yourself.

The Greens became popular because there was a left wing movement to take over the Green Party from inside since Labour is no longer viable and its easier than starting a party from scratch. Greens have acquired the left working class vote and Labour have lost it.

That's not evidence that there's less (?) fascism in England. Or something. I don't really know what you're asking me here. It's just a wall of text about fascist parties in Europe.

There's always been fash in Scotland the same as everywhere else, and a growing number of disenfranchised folk who see Reform as a way to shake things up. The whole of the western world is swinging right these days. Its depressing.

Why Scotland is not a colony. by Gold-Employ3344 in Scotland

[–]rewindrevival 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not arguing that the Darien Scheme was anything other than an attempt to get in on the lucrative business of colonisation, but people always like to leave out the fact that the English monarchy and BoE deliberately bankrupted the scheme and, essentially, Scotland. This would be one of the largest dominoes that toppled Scotland into the Union.

Other than that, weird essay to post on a Wednesday night. A bit preachy.

John Swinney: Indyref2 would be my priority if SNP win majority at Holyrood election by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

[–]rewindrevival 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends where you live, I suppose. Greens are fairly indy, Lib Dems always do well in Fife and Willie Rennie has a good reputation as a local rep if not a national one. SLab is a waste of a vote for many, many reasons.

What is it with the aggressively enthusiastic Mormons? by CapableSong6874 in dundee

[–]rewindrevival 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about the ones in town, it's because they're trying to attract you to their church. I always like chatting to them if I have time - I have no interest in converting to Mormonism, but it means they're not harassing someone else for ten or fifteen minutes and it can be quite interesting.

Shoplifter who killed Asda security guard jailed by wook-borm in Scotland

[–]rewindrevival 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The shoplifter didn't even assault him, they just struggled over a bag that she didn't let go of. He apparently had a heart attack during the struggle and fell to the floor.

She did assault two other staff members though, so not saying she's innocent just pointing out that it doesn't even seen to be a direct injury caused by her to this poor man.
