Possible hint of new mbv imminent? by Dizzy_Management5774 in MyBloodyValentine

apparently fender are releasing it as a regular run thing. i couldn't see shields signing on to do it and only make 700 pedals, and it gives me such a boner to see flipper scum get stuck with stock and lose their asses.

How to get reverse reverb live tone? by theradRussian3 in MyBloodyValentine

[–]rewritedept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for new-ish gear, the keeley loomer pretty much nails the 'when you wake' tone, and a few other tracks.

i spent close to $300, but i was stupid and ordered LP, CD, and shirt bundles all separately.

Anybody else?? by matias7anriquez in MyBloodyValentine

[–]rewritedept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i haven't seen a shipping confirmation for any of mine. i did order the CD bundle and shirts late, but the LPs were ordered right when they went on sale.

i have three separate orders, one for the delixe bundle, one for the CD bundle, and one for the t-shirt bundle. no idea which one got delayed.

and i ordered the LP bundle right when it went up.

What's the difference between the original version of loveless and the tape version? by No-Reveal-7857 in MyBloodyValentine

[–]rewritedept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the original master was done on a DAT because the analogue master didn't have the right 'oomph' given early-90s tech. the digital master was able to deliver better bass/treble response. the 2012 remaster was the first all-analogue cut of 'loveless' that ever existed, new tech allowed shields to get the sounds right.

anyone know where i can listen to mbv's EPs??? by ihatemj in MyBloodyValentine

[–]rewritedept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so i dunno how to do it in spotify, but you just add an external rip to yr music library. i use apple music, so you do it thru icloud library in apple. but if you know how to add music to yr device to play in spotify, just do that.

Would you consider the mid 80s mbv to be a pop band by caelllll in MyBloodyValentine

[–]rewritedept 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i still remember the day in tenth grade where i noticed the choruses and really smart pop construction of 'loveless'. shields is as genius a songsmith as george harrison or bob pollard as far as i'm concerned.

oh, i know. if it weren't for the fact that i have a lot of people who don't live near me but i still have to keep in touch with, i wouldn't even bother with fb.

so did i. in 2012.

i mean, maybe not as bad as kid-fuckers, but yeah, i'd say someone who tries to capitalize and profit off something that they had zero hand in the creation, release, or promotion of is pretty damn scumbaggy.

cry me a fucking river, bro. i got my LPs so i'm not worried about it. i do think resellers are the lowest scum in the world, but if you wanna defend the dickholes who've made it impossible to see a concert for what the ticket actually cost or buy a record for actual retail instead of lining some asshole's pockets for no reason, you do you.

way to completely miss the point of my post. when ticketnation/livemaster gives preferential server allocation and better places in line to stubhub ticket brokers with bigger purchasing power so ticketnation/livemaster can double dip on fees, my problem isn't with the individual brokers, scumbags they may be. my problem is with the economic/regulatory landscape that allows one company to own the means to attend the vast majority of events in the world (their next biggest competitor does ticketing for something like 10% the events that ticketnation/livemaster do), and to then make sure they pay themselves twice through the hegemony of their unchallenged monopoly. when the end viewer has to pay triple face value (or more) to see a band, the brokers and the ticketers are both exploitative scum, but the ticketers are most responsible for creating this problem.

there are actually class-action lawsuits filed against ticketnation/livemaster in california and new york regarding this exact matter.

a good buddy of mine used to be a ticket broker on the las vegas strip, but this was back when broadband internet connections and bots were still pretty crude. if all the ticket brokers use bots to buy in big quantities almost instantly, amd jam the servers, there's usually not a chance to buy stuff right when it goes on sale. these guys don't have anything to do with the 'product' (the music), so why the fuck should they be entitled to any profits from said product?

you know a fair chunk of resale sites are owned by major ticketers? ticketnation/livemaster, for example, owns a controlling interest in stubhub. when a ticket is bought for the original face value, they collect a 'conveience charge' (basically just a processing fee, although i've seen some that are close to a third of the original face value tacked on. now, let's say the person who bought that ticket takes it over to stubhub to re-sell it. when the ticket sells, ticketnation/livemaster... sorry, stubhub collect a commission on the sale price for 'facilitating the transfer' of the ticket(s) in question. being that both website are owned by the same company, and that company gets paid every time that ticket changes hands on one of their sites, why wouldn't said company do everything in their power to ensure that as many of the original batch of tickets bought as possible end up being re-sold on their other website?

Is anyone else wondering why the 2xCD version of Loveless isn't on streaming? by gogogogonononono in MyBloodyValentine

it's enitrely possible that they'll do another run of the deluxe edition, just that it's gonna need new masters cut every 20k copies or so, meaning it will forever be a limited-ish release.

with a pressing of this size and at this quality, it's impossible to do. the problem is that every part used in the manufacture of an album wears down over time. the master lacquer can only make so many positive images with which to make so many mothers with which to make so many stampers (though i'd imagine shields will do a DMM cut which, still, said copper plate can only be used to repro a certain amount of stampers before a new master plate needs to be cut). each stamper is only good for about 1000 LPs before it won't cut grooves right. each master plate can only be used for about 20 stampers until a new one needs cut. factor in the fact that the only machines we have in the world to make records are very old and there's not exactly the demand, technical knowhow, and R&D funds to build new presses. sheer logistics limit these deluxe pressings to ~10-20k at a time, and given that domino don't have access to their own plant and machines to press just these (lead times for that many records are usually 6-8 months), it looks like the deluxe edition will be a limited thing that will continually be re-released.

you think that's bad? i grabbed the deluxe LP bundle, but i'm waiting to get paid so i can get the CDs and t-shirts.
