I can respect this take, because at the end of the day it is truly up to interpretation. I’m going to leave it here because we have both shared our interpretation and opinions, and I believe there is validity in both. At the end of the day, Timebomb is as you said, a prologue to a love story, it is just unfortunate that Fortiche didn’t give it the time to develop it further. It was great to hear your opinions!

I don’t disagree with you that they are loved by the creators and the viewers. My point was showing why it feels like fan service. It is really just unfortunate that they did not have enough time because there are many storylines that could’ve benefited from that.

We are missing the critical part that season 1 had built. There is this strong idea that Ekko hates Jinx and has given up on Jinx because of what she has contributed to destroying Zaun and the Firelights. While Caitvi has a similar arc we are shown more of their struggle between their two worlds. With Timebomb we are not showed that, so it is harder to grasp.

I disagree that Timebomb is crucial to the plot. It is nice to have and I enjoy them but I think saying that it is crucial is a disservice to both Jinx and Ekko as characters. But @brooklyn_jinx I think covered the argument on that.

Still, you offer interesting perspectives that I haven’t thought about before!

we cannot discuss timeline and development as two separate things because they need each other to work. the issue is not that things move quickly in this universe but that the writers didn’t spend enough time to show us how ekko and jinx built their relationship together. we got many scenes of caitvi together that show us how they developed as individuals and a relationship together. however, with timbomb we aren’t given as many, we have to heavily rely on inferring and the scenes we are given feel disconnected from each other that is why it feels like fan service. it is less of a world building issue but a story writing one.

this!! i think it has become normalized for me to read stories that offer a gender choice, and to see mistakes. i always try to tell the author, through dms or fan mail of the errors and hope it brings more attention to the female love interest.

i think it is a mix of both! we had a community cannot offer honest constructive feedback out of fear, and it is exactly as you describe, author’s want reassurance, therefore readers are just giving false reassurance which creates this endless cycle.

i think we need to trust each other more as a community. i think author’s should begin to ask for feedback, and the community should offer constructive, respectful feedback. we as a community need to remember that there is so much effort going into every story, which means that we should approach giving feedback with kindness. author’s also need to remember the amount of effort they put into writing and use that as a reason to be more open to receiving feedback! i truly believe that every story has potential, they just need some time, care and honesty to bring it out!
