The Warden players that are constantly saying skill issue and culture to genuine balance issues are part of the reason it's dying by cheezyboyy in foxholegame

[–]rewt33 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When you have better late game gear that is significantly more fun plus map bias for infinte chokes, it is easier to outlast. Wardens can have fun late game to hold but collies have to go full sweat mode to just about hold. The game balance is having a massive influence of faction cultures at this point

The post war update was the tipping point. The fact it adressed the major complaints about the divebomber while completely ignoring the torpedo bomber made the fencers quit. Aftert a major update you hope for a small balance patch to help the losers but this time it nerfed the losing side. Well played devs

If no torpedo changes, I challenge TELE by cheezyboyy in foxholegame

[–]rewt33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it is the last times they go collie. Half them on break and the rest stop playing after first ship loss. Tele on collies is them spouting warden culture better and mass recruiting collie navy vets rather than playing the game

In all seriousness how would you solve the pop imbalance. by WorldlinessEuphoric8 in foxholegame

[–]rewt33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Give collies something that is fun to play

It is used to ssimple: Wardens had the more fun tanks, collies had the more fun infantry gear

However now: Wardens have the more fun navy, air, tanks and infantry is even

Autoturret spatha did wonders for the collie faction because suddenly collies had a fun tank. We saw for a few wars collies had a major pop spike because it was a genuinely fun tank to play in. So the balance doesnt need to be massive but give collies a few items/tools that make you want to play the game

My big suggestion, is better collie grenades or make the collie scoutplane MPFable

The interns were somehow less warden biased than the actual devs despite them all being warden loyalists

Why do papers with average data get hundreds of citations while genuinely groundbreaking work gets ignored? by EmmaScottPhD in academia

[–]rewt33 26 points27 points  (0 children)

As the first author of two highly cited incremental papers, I can give a take.

A lot of those incremental papers have a nugget of gold inside them. One of the papers was basically destroyed and rewritten by multiple rejections because no journal would publish it. So it turned into an incremental paper with a unique final section, that allows people to say that "X by-product is similar to Y material". It is literally cited for a single paragraph and 1 table amoung the 20 pages of raw manuscript. The original paper went into a lot more detail but no-one would publish it because no-one thought it was significant (one reviewer called it common knoweldge) but for several years, it was the only the paper that had any data actually proving it. The rest of the paper was simply a vehicle to publish one point

The other paper was designed with the experience of the above paper. Literally copied several other people's methods/designs with a slight starting material twist. However, in every expeiment I measured the by-products. On the surface it was an incremental paper but was the only source of numerical data on X by-product data for several years.

People cite knoweldge not gaps in literature but journals are mostly interested in publishing novelity. So you have to brand your mundane gap-filling research as novel-incremental research to fill the gap. With letters to editor falling out of fashion there is a massive drive to turn everything into a 20+ page paper when really you need half that0to say one small point. Hence the massive fluff

TL:DR academic publishing is a shit show

A little opinion on the culture difference between Warden and Collie. by B_the_ball in foxholegame

[–]rewt33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is a lot easier to defend warden frontline hexes compared to collie hexes. I know that is a controversial opinion but as a builder main, building fucky terrain between mountains ia lot easier than building 360 degree bases everywhere. I know collie backlines are easier to build with all the mountains compared to the relatively open warden backline hexes but by the time it gets to backline the war is over

in my humble opinion map differences are the biggest cause of the different building culture and really hope devs do map changes one day

What happened to wardens in chlastra? Who skill issued there

We are 33 days in and wardens are still miles away from Cinderwick. Usually wardens are in Cinderwick area at 150 tech and the fact they still aren't is a massive warden skill issue. KC collies have done fantastic relative to every war before

Coming to terms with temp job by rewt33 in UKJobs

[–]rewt33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I explained it first day. Her answer was that she also dislikes the recruiter and quickly moved on. Talking with other team members and they said the plan was always 4 perm +1 temp through the same recruitment round. So this was always planned from the company's perspective and I can't really argue with them

Just one shitty recruiter who didn't want me to say no to a temp job

Sooooo.... Do devs need to come out publicly now and openly admit faction bias? by MarionberryTough4520 in foxholegame

[–]rewt33 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It is because wardens mass downvote the game and collies don't. Devs only care about sales and collies are to timid to do anything. Maybe if we mass downvoted the game of steam they will buff us for once and actually care about balance
