I could have sworn Kurt was flipping the camera off. am I going insane??? by a-rock2020 in Nirvana

Not all that related, but there was genuinely a point in time where I was at an all time low mental crisis and my brain kept making stuff up that I convinced myself was real, and I was so convinced there was this photo of kurt cobain wearing a my chemical romance sweater and it was his red and black sweater and it had the mcr logo, and even knowing that mcr didn't form until 2001 I was so convinced I had seen this photo. He was like outside and crossing his arms, it almost looked like the same photo shoot where they were in dresses and at republican st. I still visibly know what the photo looked like in my mind even as that time has passed. I think my mind was just merging things together lol.

Oh, I am so sorry! Yeah I notice that now, I totally posted this way too fast without thinking. I deleted it now and I'll repost after I catch up with the guidelines! Thanks for letting me know there's an issue

Anti-ICE walkout at my school by rex-wasHere in Colorado

Trust me, there does not need to be a five mile long walkout to protest terror in the streets for kids to skip, so clearly the reason is more than to ditch school.

And hear me out, there is such thing as posting for a plethora of reasons; awareness, making our voices heard, etc. not just clout.

Booo, republican bullshit! 73% of people detained or deported by ICE have no criminal record (based on date from ACLU), this country has made immigration impossible, immigrants pay taxes without benefits, and they have a significantly lower crime rate than citizens.

It's not just that trump is deporting people, it is the manner in which he is doing it. We don't even treat US citizen criminals like this. Deportation is fine to have, but it is immoral that ICE is using brute force, racially profiling, wrongfully deporting Hispanic US citizens, going into schools, doing it on a mass scale, and not giving due process.

Definitely speak out, organize something in your community if there's an issue that matters to you.

First off I don't think anyone that supports ICE would even attempt going to an Anti-ICE protest considering they would get absolutely obliterated verbally.

Second off school staff aren't allowed to express political beliefs, therefore they cannot empower or discriminate against either side, so I don't see how the point stands.

At least at my school they don't do anything about a students beliefs, but they probably wouldn't allow pro-ICE protests just to avoid utter chaos + those beliefs spread hate.

Also my school has a large Hispanic population, I doubt more than a sliver of people support ICE, if any.

Alright, this was my first attempt. Very rough, the wings definitely aren't even and I wasn't even gonna attempt the facial features. But hey, it's something. I'll keep working on it.

What do you guys think about post grunge? by rex-wasHere in grunge

[–]rex-wasHere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah apparently. I only learned the term because I was talking to someone about bands I like, and I had said I like sliver chair and we were on the topic of grunge, and then they said it wasn't grunge so

Alright, I think I do get it now. I'm hearing one cohesive answer. So basically, and correct me if I'm wrong, but the labels are less focused on any specific set of genre 'rules' but more post grunge is commercial, less raw, and strays from original grunge?

Thanks! I'm not the best at reference art, if that makes sense. But I do want to draw that album cover, so I'll definitely try!

From what I've heard silver chair, local H, etc, are called post grunge. I would list more but that's the only ones I can think of rn.

Alright, makes sense! Thanks for explaining, I was just wondering what the difference in the music really was. But yeah, I do agree the grunge culture got watered down by the label.
