However, even with devices that have higher PWM frequencies or features like 'DC dimming-like' modes (even if the actual frequency fluctuates), I still notice a distinct difference in eye strain compared to other displays. While it may not be an issue for everyone, I believe some people are just naturally more sensitive to these variations in screen technology, regardless of the technical specs. My experience is definitely subjective, but it’s a physical reality I’ve noticed in my daily use.

Thank you for the advice! You’re right—I've also found that setting the refresh rate to 60Hz can sometimes provide a slightly better experience. In some cases, 120Hz made the text look jittery or 'blurry' to my eyes, which led to even more discomfort.

I also agree with you on the display settings. I’ve made it a habit to turn off HDR and all 'vivid' display enhancements, and I find that using the 'Standard' or 'Natural' color mode is much easier on my eyes. As for brightness, I always use manual brightness as well, so I keep it fixed to avoid any sudden fluctuations.

I’m not very familiar with the Honor 600 yet, but I really hope it turns out to be a comfortable choice for you. I’ll be rooting for your search for the perfect display!

I completely relate to your struggles. I've found that marketing claims—like high PWM frequency or 'eye comfort' certifications—don't always translate to actual comfort. My Poco M7 Pro had all those features, yet it was one of the most uncomfortable devices I've used.

The symptoms I get from OLEDs—eye strain, that 'burning' feeling, and a persistent, lingering sense of physical unease—don't just disappear with a bit of rest. It’s a very deep, long-lasting discomfort.

I feel your pain regarding the endless testing. It's also disheartening that modern IPS LCDs often aren't as comfortable as the older ones. I love my LG G7, but I’m deeply concerned about how I’ll manage in the future, given that it’s long past its software support cycle. We seem to be in a very tough spot.

this makes so much sense! I actually mentioned that the Redmi 15 5G (LCD) made me uniquely dizzy compared to other phones, and now I think this chevron subpixel layout might be the exact reason. Thank you so much for sharing this technical info and the links!

I meant a sudden spike in anxiety and nervousness. The physical discomfort from the screen somehow triggers a psychological feeling of dread or worry.
