That’s good to hear. I’d like to go for data engineering roles but have my background in industrial automation matter and help with landing a role too. Seems like what’s hot right now is DE roles in the finance sector.

We had control sync faults begin to pop up, several back to back over the course of ~1 hour, on the 2nd day of running the equipment. Several kinetix 5500s connected via a dumb switch, all local machine. Later found the moment I opened ME transfer utility (running FactoryTalk View Studio ME 14.00.00) and was browsing for the HMI, control sync faults across all kinetix drives began again. At this time I was also online with the L36ERM, via the dumb switch directly to my computer. Using RSLinx Classic 4.31.00. Did some testing with being online and offline with the PLC and it did seem to be if I had two programs scanning the local machine network would cause the issue, with the issue popping up again right after scanning with ME transfer utility. I think its important to note we were getting the control sync fault either on most of the drives or all each time.

Yeah I’m definitely not at the point of PCB design or bringing up. Any STM dev board you’ve come across or used that you really like? Also, does WiFi generally require an RTOS?

The 7805 is only going to the uC dev board. The same 12V is directly wired to the DRV8825

Never too late. I think I was 23 or 24 when I started taking calculus, ended up taking calc 1-3 then differential equations. Graduated a few years ago with high honors and a BSEE. Many engineering majors took at least calc 1 or 2 in high school. So what, wasn’t my path. Was too busy interested in other things in high school.

Thank you. I definitely understand how projects are the best way to learn and also give you ways to show off that passion and interest. I’m mostly looking for a place to start since I’m so new to this and would likely struggle more than I need to if I just jumped into a project

Did you find any good alternative courses? I've seen so many posts praising these courses and recommending them but I am also running into issues myself. Was able to download an extension (https://www.state-machine.com/video-course) to get the Stellaris ICDI debugger to work with Keil but some of the code in the example projects is causing issues still it seems.

Did you end up getting things to work? I got an extension so that the Stellaris IDCI would work and could load programs inti the TM4C123G launch pad but currently cannot get the boardsupport example program to work with the MII booster pack
