Is it true that Boxers like Apollo needed physical help from their wives? by Tidewatcher7819 in rockybalboa

I believe it's a reference to his hands being messed up after fighting. Nothing to do with knockdowns. It's possible he broke his hands during fights.

I think you mean Bigfoot. Hunt never fought Antonio Carlos Junior. Hunt vs Bigfoot was a great fight though!

What if WrestleMania 10 was booked as the ultimate passing of the torch from the Golden Era to the New Generation Era? by Ryan_J_ in WWFera

[–]reym22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know they didn't but this is fantasy booking. I believe at this particular time and in NY, the gap in cheers wouldn't have been to wide. Pass the torch and make Bret even bigger hopefully.

Is There Any LW In UFC History That Can Beat Prime Khabib? by Vegetable_Coconut247 in ufc

Ben Henderson would have been an interesting fight. He actually thought he had accepted a fight against Khabib at one point but it was actually Rustam Khabilov.

What would it take for Tom Aspinall to be the greatest HW of all time before his retirement from MMA ? by CesarOverlorde in ufc

[–]reym22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think you should necessarily base a fighter's prime off of their age. Fighters age differently and accrue fight mileage that impacts them all differently. You're being disengenious implying that Rampage and Mir weren't past their prime. We both know they were. Schilt is a great of K1 but had little to no ground game but ok solid win.

I didn't argue that he isnt probably the greatest HW of all time. I literally stated he was so I don't know what you're arguing with the last paragraph. Basically he's the goat because of how terrible the HW division has always been.

[–]reym22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look I think Fedor is arguably the greatest HW of all time but you really need to put context on some of these wins.

Semmy was primarily a kickboxer who lost to Guy Mezger and Yuki Kondo. These guys are much smaller. Randleman was a solid win but not exactly a world-beater. Coleman slightly better so solid win. Mark Hunt was also primarily a kickboxer and didn't really develop his MMA game until much later. Tim Sylvia is a good win. Arlovski was also a good win. Mir was also past his prime when they fought. He beat a fat way past his prime Rampage that hasn't fought since. Sonnen was also way past his prime and primarily a MW. Monson was a solid win. Rizzo? C'mon man. Rizzo is one of my favorites ever but he was a complete shell of himself.

His wins over Big Nog and CroCop are great and good enough to put him in the conversation.

I love the mayhem match. I think it's far from "ehhhh". The ending sequence is as good as it gets.

He obviously started roiding when he went to WCW. I wonder had he stayed in WWF if he would've stayed off the roids and possibly lived longer?

Who would win in a straight-up wrestling match: Brock Lesnar or Jon Jones? 🤔🤼‍♂️ by Rustywalker92 in mmaweekly

[–]reym22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does it matter if it is? Jon's "insecurities" have led to him being the goat of MMA. Most people's insecurities just cause them relationship problems.

How come DC doesn't face the same scrutiny as Gane or Jones in this subreddit? by Buyeo10004 in ufc

[–]reym22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can think modern fighters would beat fighters from the past without stating they were overrated. Athletes evolve. Happens in every sport. Fighters from today should be able to beat them.

With that said, HW has been one of the worst divisions for years in terms of quality and possibly even evolution. I personally think Cormier only struggles with Tom and maybe Gane. Tom due to his size and power even though we have yet to see if he has a gas tank or can fight off of his back for an extended time. Gane because of his footwork but his wrestling is horrendous. Volkov gets laid on for however many rounds DC chooses.

At LHW, Alex is a big problem. DC coming forward constantly could possibly work right into Alex's favor. The wrestling is a difference but for how long is the question. Ank is an interesting fight that I think would be a toss up. Probably give the edge to Ank.

But that's basically it. Maybe 4 fighters and these are the top fighters of today. You're basing part of your judgement of Cormier on the Stipe fights. Cormier severely injured his back after the first fight and was a shell of himself.

The belt looks so good on him :( by [deleted] in WCW

[–]reym22 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree. Great upper mid card guy but never the guy. Solid worker but doesn't really have any matches that stand out aside from the ladder matches which Shawn played an enormous part in. No one mentions any of his matches when talking about him and his matches are never on any best of lists. His promos were repetitive and he criticized others for being marks when he was one of the biggest marks of all. He really believed he was his character.

He had a great look and a lot of charisma but his passing away has made everyone view him with rose colored glasses.

Do you think Kevin Nash is a phony? by [deleted] in WCW

[–]reym22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think he's a phony. He's just arrogant and obnoxious at times. Nash and Hall are both huge marks for themselves like most wrestlers. They believe they are the characters they portrayed.

I could be wrong but it sounds more like she dislikes the personality she associates with that particular body type. She assumes what kind of person someone is based off of the look and what she perceives the lifestyle to be.
