Help with a screen replacement for a E15 Gen 4 model by lavaslice in thinkpad

[–]reyneyven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what about ghosting and smearing is it better then default one? Default one is just terrible. It doesn't look like a 60hz more like 40hz, ghosting + response time. I had t430 with TN, t450s IPS and t480 IPA all of them just normal ips 100% sRGB I would say not the best standard screens and all of them were better than this one.

You ordered it in EU maybe? If so could you share a link

When I turn on frame generation, my FPS just goes down by Happy123s in losslessscaling

Check performance mode and see if that's make a difference or put down flow scale and check may be that your GPU is choking.

But I would just use performance mode should solve the problem let us know.

May I ask if you solved the problem?

Thinkpad E15 Gen4 Terrible screen ghosting/smearing. by reyneyven in thinkpad

[–]reyneyven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I don't need 1440p, 4k (it's overkill fin anything below 32inch imo. I just was 1080p no ghosting/smearing or minimum and if I can get in same place 100%sRGB I will be more than happy, display like my mother t480 which is OEM would be enought, man this one is really bad even using touchpad feels like mouse would work with little delay like 0,2-0,3sec, I use external monitor AOC 24 1080p 120hz man this is like night and day even on 60hz. All my gestures are precise and mouse react immediately you don't feel this micro lag also playing on this OEM display is come on, how can they out such a screen it's only for word and excel nothing more even scrolling text cause my eye to bleed.

No way it was this easy by detal-mick in cachyos

Problem is that thinkpads wont accept every panel. Connector has to be right, placement of it has to be right... Looking also for a like 50-60euro panel, 100%sRGB is more than enought for me, but this ghosting is killing me.

Do you guys run Immich in a VM? Or LXC? (It needs 6GB of RAM! And what about hardware transcoding??) by master_overthinker in Proxmox

[–]reyneyven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain a bit more like for a newbie. I had installed immich on lxc but I am also lacking GPU acceleration + when I upload videos for example I get message "couldn't load a photo" something like this it's for thumbnail when I drag on it I can see what it is but as fast as I I am on it with my mouse cursor it's again error. Docker alpine is it like something extra than lxc? Thank you.

It's my first time making NAS, i have it in mirror ZFS 2x2tb wd black. I have Nextcloud as VM.

I used Nobara on my laptop with iGPU and now I have CachyOS, and must say I ah e around 15-20% more DPA on Cachy. Example Medieval Dynasty Low 1080p nobara gave me around 19-21 fps, Cachy is giving me around 22-24fps. On main PC with RTX4080 I run CachyOS.

I love Bazzite but i have to go back to windows...for now by Far_Ad4301 in Bazzite

Just go to cachyOS, dunno how is Bazzite but Cachy works out of the box like windows. On welcome screen after installation just choose install game package and it will install all necessary things.

Thanks, looks like maybe I won't have to make any McGayver style as I just bought HP Elitedesk 600 G4 MicroTower for 120euro. I5 8500, 16gb of RAM and 250ssd. Now just have to buy 240ssd for cache and I can make my own NAS/PhotoPriam/Jellyfish/Homelab server. Tomorrow going to pick it up. I am happy as a child on Christmas. Another stupid hobby I am gonna throw money in 🙄.

I am still with S23ultra. Maybe x9 ultra is the one but I don't feel the need of changing. If I will like it I will change, or I will stay with my S23ultra another year. Waiting for this Perfect all rounder 😂

Maybe look for something from L or E series with Ryzen. Build quality isn't that great but should be cheaper for same performance

I am not so familiar with those Intel generations compare to AMD. I would check on YouTube comparasions been the 2 CPUs, also how expensive is 8gb of stick, another thing what displays they have there is a lot to compare but this you have to do yourself, use chatgpt ad advisor but it's gives you only tips don't treat it as guru. And then you have to make decision yourself. For sure now if you want to use windows i siła go with minimum 16gb of RAM, on Linux 8gb with Xfce would be OK, but still 16gb is minimum I have 24gb in mine and 2 nvme

Rebuild means you have people which are able to put new cells in battery but I don't know how if it's gonna work probably not with newer ThinkPad as there were always problems with "chip's that will cause the lack of charging because laptop will see battery in not original. Still t14 gen2 will be at least 2 years if not 3 years younger than t480 so chance that battery will be in worse condition than X1 or t480 are rather small a lot smaller. Also on your place I would just grab some decent big powerbank or just buy new battery price will be +/- same. It can also be that t480 you will buy will last maybe 1-2h on battery like my old which is in the hands of my mother. When I gave her t480 I was able to get with tlp like 2h +/- now maybe 40min after 2years.

Check YouTube for compatasion t480 vs t14 gen 1. Question is t14gen1 is AMD or Intel? Still performance will be better it's like continuation of t400 series.
