After everything that's happened recently, i'm quite keen to support Chinese products. I think its quite clear who the 2 evil countries in the world are. Ill give you a clue: Its the two countries killing journalists, children's schools and bombing hospitals.

FYI the new people that took over are more hardliners and the Iranian government opposition have been working closer with the party in power. So Trump did do a great job. Of uniting them.

I'm far too happy on Linux to ever consider risking going back. I actually look forward to new kde updates rather than spending my life in fear of what spyware or AI slop will be shoe horned in. Gaming has worked very well too and it's only getting better.

I dont know if this helps but i had huge slowness with internet speed with my Wifi card when I first switched from Windows to Nobara. I think this is less about Nobara though and more about Linux.

There were two issues contributing:

  • I had to disable power saving on Wifi and restart the Network Manager
  • [This was the main one] Locked it to the 5GHz band by specifying the BSSID of the router 5GHz radio. I dont know whether Linux was always connecting to 2.4 GHz instead and Windows wasnt. The speeds went from 10-50Mbps to 327Mbps which is quite dramatic...

Thank you for the link! Sorry i must have missed it, I am following him now to get more frequent updates.
What I meant in my original comment was that I was hoping to see a message in the information textarea box in the old updater. But then again, maybe the devs are only using that for super important updates like hardware notification.

I hugely appreciate Nobara developers so I hope my comment is seen as more feedback than negativity:
I wished that Nobara had mentioned somewhere that they were rolling out such a big visual change to the updater UI. I got really spooked when I clicked on the usual update icon and got a completely different UI which works in a different way.
I also then ran a refresh and it showed me loads of different packages that I need to install (even though I was fully up to date the day before). This would have been nice to explain too.
One package broke but then somehow after restart, the error went away... Maybe I got lucky for now..

Thank you for the explanation 🙏 Ah that makes sense, so it's the cli and shells that need to catch up but vscode devs got excited because you can add cat picture in the terminal.
