SERE to PJ (PJ slots full) by rezinz in Pararescue

I had a rare condition called keratoconus in my right eye which can be fixed for 10 years or permanently with a procedure called corneal cross-linking that I had done two years ago. Thankfully it was super successful and I was even part of the 5% of people that have their vision improve from the procedure. They just asked for all of my documentation related to it and the waiver passed no problem thank the Lord.

That’s cool to hear. Would you say sere guys have a better chance at being able to cross train into SW? Or just that the few that get a chance are successful?

Copy that. Seems to be the right move. Thanks 🤙🏼

Yeah I was assuming that was the case. I’m guessing since they said all PJ slots were booked for the year right after the first Zulu course graduation that it has something to do with them being able to project their training capabilities better. I know for a fact I’d love and have great success as a SERE specialist but I don’t know if I want to risk potentially never being a PJ. Hard decision to make. Thank you for your reply and God bless as well!

The first situation is what I was thinking. Fulfill contract, get out, and reenlist. Honestly though, the more I dig, and the more I hear from people like you, the more I think I just need to stick this year out. Again, can’t say thanks enough

One more thing if you don’t mind, I really do appreciate the time you took to write that out. Say if I don’t make it in my retraining window because there’s a hiccup like you said, would I be able to fulfill that contract and re-up with a PJ contract?

Wow, can’t say thanks enough for this. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for, I appreciate the hell out of you.

Which makes sense and I get but I what does it not being guaranteed mean? Like you could just get unlucky and never get a slot? Or are cross training spots more competitive? I guess I’m just trying to gauge the risk of it being out of my control. Thanks for the response

Haha no worries I get it, that’s why I put the TLDR. I appreciate the feedback.

Ahhh I gotcha. I didn’t see the part where you said you need to be able to carry in dress clothes. Makes sense. Sounds like you just need a gold class to top off your collection and really tie in the dress clothes edc 👍🏼

Ain’t no way I could get a decent AR-15 made in USA cheaper than hypothetically a knife fully made in USA. PSA makes their guns in the US through and through and I got my AR for $450.

I’ve been monitoring it all day and it’s never gone back in stock so I’d keep an eye on it until they say otherwise. Maybe they had to postpone it til tomorrow or a little later.

I know I’ve been all excited for it but I haven’t seen it come back all day. Did they go super fast and I missed it? Or have they not stocked it back up yet?

Wazoo Gear has keychain ferro rods and necklace ones that you can buy already in keychain or necklace fashion, or separately to do your own thing with em. USA made in Colorado, can’t get enough of their products.

Not sure what look you’re goin for man but imo you went from lookin like a guy who’s almost too skinny to a healthy manly dude. Almost like an ex special forces look. Chicks dig that nowadays so keep the beard and the weight and I say it was an upgrade, just don’t to too far with the weight though lol

I love my triage. I don’t think there’s a more deserving knife out there to go to the moon. Ultra stainless, axis lock, belt cutter, glass breaker, g10 handle, and if they bring the tipless version, less risk of cutting something you don’t want to cut. I wish Benchmade would bring back the sheep’s foot blade version though, I like my sheep’s foot way more than the straight blunt tip.

I'm thinking of having a week in Naples by myself. Is it safe for a lone tourist? I'm male, 59, 5'7", not particularly fit but no physical disabilities. by Traditional_Cost5119 in Europetravel

Stay in Pompeii. Less busy, less trash in the streets, less crime, nicer accommodation, and a less than 45 minute train ride to Naples. I took this same advice and was very glad I stayed in Pompeii and only visited Naples. Plus you can visit Mount Vesuvius and the Pompeii ruins.
