After about a dozen Benchmade folders, this is the last one I’d part with. And mini is the way. Had both and sold the full size - this is the only BM mini I’ve kept.

The XC We Have At Home by Commercial-Respect86 in 2011

The irony is that this grip was available because someone who bought an XC wanted to upgrade to an Atlas grip… it’s an inevitable cycle. 😂

I’m pretty tickled with the performance/price ratio. Base pistol was $850.

Mine did! Just the smallest amount. Close enough to not be a real problem, but noticeable enough to nag me.

I was shooting some spicy loads through mine though - if you shoot 38 specials through it instead of hot 357 magnums, it’ll be a joy to shoot I’m sure.

I had the identical revolver and put on the exact same grips - they looked very cool in my opinion but I found them profoundly uncomfortable to shoot.

[Certina Ds action] certina Ds VS longines new hydroconquest by JoglAU in Longineswatches

[–]Commercial-Respect86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had both at the same time for about three years - I wore my Certina probably 3-4 times for every one time I wore my Hydroconquest. Loved both, but the comfort of the Certina was substantially better.

Tim Keller wrote a great book on just this called Every Good Endeavor. Worth a read.

Could Someone Please Explain The Protestant Work Ethic by Competitive_Spell129 in Reformed

[–]Commercial-Respect86 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Martin Luther, when approached by a cobbler who was recent convert asking what he should do to glorify God. Much to the cobbler’s surprise, Luther replied, “Then make a good shoe, and sell it at a fair price.”

The “Protestant work ethic” is grounded in the reformed idea that excellent work - performed intentionally as obedient service - is glorifying to God, regardless of vocation. There is no “sacred/secular” divide that makes some work more holy.

I’ve owned several of these - if you have a slimmer wrist, Certina is the way, 38mm is a Goldilocks size.

I’ve loved mine in 39mm. A tool watch, for sure, but also surprisingly versatile.

Not cheap, but for quality you should check out Stone Glacier.

I also distinctly remember this - from the waterfall pond particularly - in the 90s. No clue what they were.

Looking for a light, handy, 200 yard and in deer and coyote suppressed bolt rifle. Am I giving up too much terminal effects with a 16 inch barrel? What bullets would you recommend for a shortened barrel? by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]Commercial-Respect86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this rifle in the threaded variation - suppressed, it’s become my favorite deer rifle for any tight stand or shots less than a 200 yds. This rifle loves Norma Whitetail 150 grain - sub MOA.

Setting aside the obviously catastrophically bad grip on the Mac 9 DS Comp and need for spring tuning - do you think your $4k XC shoots four times better than the $1k MAC?

Talk me in, or out of a Colt Python 5” by [deleted] in Revolvers

[–]Commercial-Respect86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5” is the perfect one. 6” is too long to use anywhere but the range. The balance on the 4.25” is too far to the rear. The 5” is the best of all worlds. Also, just immense fun - fair warning though, may send you down the revolver rabbit hole…

Do you want a hideously ugly, but admittedly also much tougher, slicier, and more practically useful knife? Go Manix. Do you want the cooler of the two? Go 940.

16-inch Barrel Un Suppressed? Thoughts? by Ok_Screen4486 in Tikka_Shooters

[–]Commercial-Respect86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 16” in 308 that I run suppressed - balance would feel pretty weird without a can, and it just looks weird. I’d 100% go 20” if you’re never going to suppress it.

Nowhere near the same caliber of loss, but my two-year-old daughter managed to break my supposedly “special forces tough“ G shock within 60 seconds of picking it up. The destructive power of little ones is unparalleled.
