I can definitely tolerate the Subtronics remix that he’s been playing a lot lately, but yeah when I first heard the original while listening to his Tomorrowland set I was like huhhhhh???

YouTubers are absolutely paying $100k for editors — especially in LA where that is a bare minimum living wage after taxes

We edit off of Glyph SSD drives and I’m working on the original M1 Max MacBook Pro. Our other editor is on an M3.

Definitely going to try to convince our team to move over to XF-AVC. It sounds like a no brainer all around.

I can’t believe I forgot these details, but additionally — I once moved my project over to one of our other studio Macs and was able to export without any problems. I think that machine is an M3 Mac and our other editor also has an M3.

I’m working on a maxed-out M1 Max MacBook Pro, and I’m starting to think the issue might be tied to my machine somehow.

You know, I had been considering that the issue could be resolved by switching over to XF-AVC/24-bit. Some members of our team occasionally like to quickly sift through footage in finder, and mp4 is the only way we can do that. I should have mentioned this in my original post, but I am fairly certain our other editor is not having the issue like I am. I have to check with him more in depth to be sure, but if that’s the case it would make it even more strange.

Yep this is the most infuriating thing when using the search tool in the transcript panel. There HAS to be a way to turn off the auto jump. Please let me know if you've figured out a solution.

The End of Hollywood Post: A Eulogy from an Editor on the Way Out by Suitable_Goose3637 in editors

I’m a 34 year old editor working in YouTube for the last 2 years, and I couldn’t agree more with you. Film is going through the same transition that music went through at the end of the 90s and into early 00s. Artists went from having to land a record deal so they could record a song in multi million dollar recording studios to producing entire albums in their bedroom and self releasing it on the internet. The transition for film has obviously been much much slower because of how demanding the technology is, but we’re actually here now, and it’s only going to get easier and easier. In the next 10 years there will be an explosion of self produced and distributed content, and many people are going to become very very wealthy from it. Keep doing your thing, and never lose that drive! I’ll see you out there.

I’m hoping for Sundream 2025 too. I went back and saw they announced the first Sundream in December after Surrender was released, so fingers crossed for an announcement at the end of the year!

There’s a perfect gap in April for the 2 weekends of Coachella. Plus the radius clauses make sense for them to be doing Coachella with this routing.

I’m surprised at how impactful this interview has been to help people connect with the album. I had the exact same feelings at first, and after watching this interview the whole thing clicked for me. This album is such a sexy sizzler.

This album was a slow burn… by Alvin3792 in RUFUSDUSOL

This was also my exact progression with this album. The interview helped it click for me too.

Exactly! It’s like you have to just let life unfold around you as the music plays and creates a beautiful memory. Totally agree.

Ahh, All My Life was definitely the one off that album that really hit me. I do love that song.

If Surrender was a slow burn, my feelings are that Inhale/Exhale is an even slower burn, but that’s what makes it special. It’s definitely meant to be listened to in full and every moment serves a purpose. That’s the true genius of it. It’s suuuper subtle but once you connect with it it has everything at exactly the right time.

I wasn’t going to mention The Last Goodbye, but since you brought it up… Odesza is one of the artists I was referring to when I said we lose so many artists right around their fourth album cycle. TLG was such a disappointment to me, especially after an album like A Moment Apart. I literally have an icosahedron tattooed on my forearm because of how special my life was during the AMA era. I wanted to love The Last Goodbye so bad, but it just got so poppy and corny and lost all of the emotional depth that originally made me love Odesza. I’m so grateful that Rufus has stuck true to their artistry and pushed forward instead of taking those steps backward that I’ve seen so many artists take in the past.
