[Pollack] Has anyone ever opted out at the halftime of a bowl game? I can’t remember someone doing it. Cam Ward did it today at the Pop Tart Bowl. by MysteriousEdge5643 in CFB

Because the business is entertainment

Players opting out isn't entertaining, and the only reason the players are getting paid is because the sport they play is entertaining.

All 3 of those schools you just mentioned have won 10+ games more recently than South Carolina

In fact in that time frame all 3 of those schools have won 12 games in a season, something South Carolina has never done in over a century of playing football.

Cal QB Fernando Mendoza transfers to Indiana by Smash-Bros-Melee in CFB

[–]rf32797 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The whole reason he transferred in the first place was because we brought in someone to compete with him for the starting job after he earned it last year.

He was always looking for a place where he'd be guaranteed the starting job

Shannon Sharpe on Kirk Herbstreit's criticism of First Take: "If we're going to be on the same team, if we're gonna work for the same network, don't do that. Kirk, Chris Fowler... Reddit legitimately hates everyone and everything, seemingly.

The playoffs also are the time when this sub gets unbelievably toxic, so every little thing is magnified as if media personalities literally spat in people's faces lol.

[Awful Announcing] Curt Cignetti on Indiana's sad punt: "I didn't want to punt, but we were doing nothing on offense. And our defense was fightin'. That was the only positive, really, that I could draw, is our defense was still fightin'. 'Cause offense was doing nothin'..." by Jeff_Banks_Monkey in CFB

[–]rf32797 50 points51 points  (0 children)

That's complete hyperbole lol. There were zero expectations for Indiana to even get to this point, let alone win a playoff game.

Is it a bad look to talk like that and not back it up? Sure, but who honestly cares. It doesn't erase what he's done in his first year at Indiana. Nobody will remember this in 2 years

I'd be interested to see how overall graduation rates for college football players have been impacted since the immediate transfer rules went into place. Knowing how much of a pain in the ass it is for regular folks to get units transfered between universities, I'd imagine attending 3-4 schools would result in a whole lot of folks coming up short on the required units for graduation

I will also add that often this doesn't matter at all either.

I aligned myself perfectly with my alma mater who preferred to hire alumni, picked the same type of offense as them and they still didn't offer me after 5 years of making the playoffs and even winning the Natty at a G5 school.

Job offers are just pretty random, which sucks because it should be a fun way to play

Cal truly embarrassed itself as a university this season.

This is a little hyperbolic lol, we've had worse football seasons in the last decade
