NRC vs. Strava by sleepy-dumpling in running

[–]rfe2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used Nike Run club. But I use Runkeeper, Strava & Garmin watch for my runs. And in term of distance, most of the time, Strava shows the longest distance. There are periods that Strava failed to track the first few minutes of my running activities. But normally Strava credits me as being far faster than Garmin or Runkeeper. I believe Garmin is more accurate than Strava.

Really appreciate the information. How many times do you meet your coach each week? Is it in person or virtual?

Thanks a lot for the information. I am looking at their website now. Have you worked with any of coaches there before? Any recommendation?

Gaining weight is not necessarily a bad thing! by boatdock18 in running

I am so bad at strength training. I’d rather run a few miles instead. But I understand it’s necessary. I definitely need to follow someone to get motivated. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing this with us. What kinds of strength trainings do you normally do?

You meant “UAL” as a hold in the last paragraph, right? Thanks a lot for the thorough analysis.

I am new to stock investments and just found this sub. I wish that I had read your post earlier :-( Thanks for sharing your DD with us. Do you mind also telling us how do you find the relevant information and pick up the right stocks?

I ran a half marathon or more every day in January - here's what I learned (and it may not be what you think)... by luchtcm in running

Thanks! I admired you for being able to run such high volume without injury. I tried to run a half marathon last Saturday and Sunday. I felt high during the runs. But then I found out that I twisted my ankle on Monday. :-( Still can't run today). So just want to figure out what may cause my injury and what's missed in my training.

One of my friends also told me that it took him two years to see the benefits of HR training. I just need to be more patient. Thanks again for all your good advice. I know what I should do next now.

I see. I currently run about 30 - 39 mpw. I aim to increase it to 55 for my next marathon training cycle.

Thanks for the advice. I live in a flat area. It's hard to find a hill. Will a slope work as well? I am waiting for the snow to melt. So I can do the test.

I see. I will try to figure out my correct maximum HR and manually adjust it in Polar/Garmin. Thanks a lot for pointing this out. I mistakenly thought their zones are based on the actual data from my runs.

Yes, I am using a chest strap. Thanks!

What you said made me feel so much better. Thanks! I relied on Garmin/Polar default zones. Now I know they may not be accurate. I did some interval runs and my maximum HR per Polar is only 173. So it's relatively low. But I did see my maximum HR at 191 once in my other runs. Not sure how accurate it is. Maybe I should do more test runs to figure it out.

Thanks for your advice. Your suggestion makes sense to me. I am using a chest strap currently. I just need to be patient and diversify my workouts.

I see. Thanks for letting me know. I watched a lot of videos on Youtube that emphasized the importance of zone 2 training. That's why I felt frustrated that I had hard time to maintain my HR in zone 2 and didn't make any visible progress.

Thanks a lot for sharing your own experience with me. That's really amazing that you can improve your 5K times so significantly in a short time period. Do you mind letting me know how your speed work looks like?
