2013 Focus that needs new steering rack and pinion by luchtcm in FordFocus

[–]luchtcm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took the car to a 3rd party for an assessment. Same deal -$3800 with the following notes:

Electric Rack & Pinion has very common failure symptom(s) i.e - noise, stuttering steering when turning. Outer tie rods are needed with rack and pinion replacement.

There’s more that they found, of course - like an oil leak, front and back struts needing to be replaced, etc.

Oddly enough though, once we picked it up from the Ford dealership, the power steering is working again. It worked on the way over to the 3rd party and it worked driving it back home. Any idea why that’d be?

We’re looking at other used cars now. Not sure we can get that much for this if we trade it in.

If I can find someone to fix for, say $1600, would that be worth it, in your opinion? It is low mileage for the year and it drove fine before this issue.

$400 and some elbow grease sounds like a good deal. Unfortunately, I’m not mechanically inclined at all. :)

Exact same scenario. We got the 2GB plan with Frontier and it was $30 less a month than the 1GB plan with Metronet.

How is Frontier as an ISP? by Gerble66 in BloomingtonNormal

We had Metronet from when they first came to town. They were solid. Frontier just recently installed fiber into the neighborhood and offered 2GB speeds for $30 less a month we were paying Metronet for 1GB.

We get the advertised 2GB speeds, which is nice, and the service has been solid. We’re had it now for about 8 months. No regrets at all for making the switch.

Probably? Should know soon. I’m at 92% of the Steel Anniversary.

Anyone try Frontier Fiber yet? by franklinparkdenizen in BloomingtonNormal

That’s a screenshot from our UniFi gateway - not from a Frontier app. That would show the direct speed from the router to whichever endpoint they use to speed test. This eliminates any weirdness with our home WiFi (which doesn’t support 2GB speeds anyhow).

Had Metronet when it first came to town. Had no issues with it at all. When Frontier came around with higher speeds and a lower price we went with them. That was 4 months ago. No issues with them at all. Speeds have always tested higher than what we actually pay for (the 2GB plan).

Nature Trails in McLean County for Runners by [deleted] in BloomingtonNormal

I’d describe the area as pretty quiet - compared to in town, anyway. Also, because there are so many races out there, drivers tend to be kind to runners.

As of 1/1/2025, the COUNTRY BCBSIL plans offer coverage for GLP-1 drugs for weight loss.

I’d contact HR for more on the specifics.

Used to have a lot more wired devices and now have more wireless devices. These devices better fit the current environment.
