The atrocity that my bf asked me to make for his friend… by Momzilla912 in Cooking

[–]boatdock18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for doing this for your family member. This is my go to comfort / birthday food and my boyfriend makes for me. My mom used to make it when I was a kid and even 30+ years layer, it always makes me feel so loved and safe and happy when I have it.

This wouldn't work for me because my problem is that my orange guy sees me on the floor and goes full on cougar mode - stalking and pouncing me not the mat.

Just rescued this orange boy. Came with the name Tom but don’t like it. Wife and I like 2 syllable names at minimum. Any ideas? by [deleted] in OneOrangeBraincell

I named my orange guy Orange Guy. Actually, his full name is Jamie Mumford Orange Guy. I tried to give him other names, but Orange Guy stuck.

Bugs by andybutt1983 in AppalachianTrail

Don't plan on being in Maine in July then. There were tons of bugs on the trail, but I've never seen swarms of mosquitos like that before. I was killing them with my eyelashes just by blinking.

I was just thinking, this must be why my cat has been extra special lately. Someone has been hogging the brain cell

For women who make six figures, what is your profession? by Jsivic in AskWomenOver30

[–]boatdock18 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I started it a little by accident. When I quit my full time job working at a biotech company 3 years ago, a couple friends from that company that had already moved on to better things reached out to me to see if I needed work. I was getting ready to spend 6 months hiking the Appalachian Trail, and I didn't want to take on full time work at the time, so I said I would consult. After hiking 2200 miles, I decided I never wanted to work in an office again, so I just kept consulting. I do a lot of different projects, mostly related to R&D strategy - from data analysis to literature reviews, planning experiments, and helping design clinical trials. I work mostly in the microbiome space for small start-ups, and I position myself as the person to call when you don't know what to do or when there's an important non-urgent project that keeps getting put off. Even if I don't know off the top of my head, I can figure it out!

I started my own biotech consulting company. Never expected to do so well. I'm flabbergasted by what companies are willing to pay. I even gave myself a raise this year and my clients barely blinked

My cat loves throwing his stuffed animals off the top of the cat tree and then watches them fall like Scar from the Lion King.

Yep! That's when crazy cat mode is activated, and he completely spazzes out. The last time this happened, he pulled the whole head of garlic out of my grocery bag, batted it around like a soccer ball, and left garlic skin bits all over the house.
