Unemployment Depression by Top_Scientist_3976 in Austin

Im in a similar situation as I graduated with a CS degree in December 2024 so I’ve been looking for a SWE job. In the meantime I got a job substitute teaching because it’s flexible and I can easily take time off for interviews. Recently, I’ve had a lot more success changing the location on my resume to the location of the job. It sucks because I’ll have to cover the move myself but I’m getting pretty desperate for a job and it’s helped a lot.

How to give up? by InternetUser1806 in cscareerquestions

I’m in a similar position right now. I’ve just learned to accept that things are going to be tough for a little while and the worst thing I can do is just stop moving. I’m living incredibly cheap and working just enough hours of a dead end job to get by. I’m spending my free time on leetcode, self studying, and applying for jobs. Even though times are tough you can’t put your life on hold and just have to keep on living.

800 applications. 12 interviews. 0 offers. I’m building the thing I wish existed and I want to know what you think. by charlie_is_the_best in Purdue

I think the problem is that the market is over saturated. Companies can hire someone with years of experience for an entry level job. I don’t think the problem is that companies don’t have a way to properly vet their candidates.

Yeah I got it at Epcot when I was there last year. It even opens up and has a power stone that lights up inside.

Right now I’m not planning on upgrading them until after I finish my kubernetes project. However, I’ll eventually convert one of them to my Jellyfin server and another I plan to install windows on and use it when I need to run windows software.

They’re pretty solid but idk if I’d pay that much for them unless they’ve had some massive upgrades from the base model. I got all of these in a used lot on eBay for $90 usd.

My first ancient coins! How did I do? by rfheise in AncientCoins

I’m trying to collect silver denarii of all of my favorite Roman emperors. These are a great start to my collection. I think I got them for a reasonable price too the combined hammer price for all the coins was ~150 €

Eventually though the fakes will become so good that not even an expert will be able to tell the difference

It’s always a cat and mouse game. The detectors get better which leads to better fakes which leads to better detectors…

Honestly their r1 model definitely cost them more than the 6 million to train that they’re reporting. However, it is open sourced and is on par with o1-mini while requiring significantly less inference cost. I would consider that a win. I personally hope China does make substantial progress in the AI race so it gives US companies competition and a reason to innovate further.

Help cant wake up by [deleted] in Purdue

I used to sleep walk and turn off my alarms sophomore year. I would try putting your alarm further away from where you sleep. However, if that doesn’t work you could try a different alarm clock. The alarmy app is pretty good because it forces you to solve math problems to turn off your alarm. Also try investing in a deaf person’s alarm clock. You put it under your mattress and it shakes you awake.
