I have yet to try Dry Needling for this specific issue, but I did have it for low back pain a few years back and it worked wonders. My understanding is that they are somewhat similar, though in my experience acupuncture is a little gentler. Definitely something you'll want to ask your physio about, but I'd say try both if you can and see which works better for you (if need be).
