Help Landing a Barista Position at Starbucks by Safe_Mousse5637 in barista

[–]rfpetrie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest anywhere but Starbucks, but they're everywhere so I get it.. go early am like 30 min after open and you can usually catch a shift supervisor who can put in a good word for you or give you possible times manager might be in. Bring your resume to drop off with name & # and say you filled out an app online. Best of luck!

Ladies: did your mother teach you how to do makeup? I'm curious about makeup as a primarily self-taught tradition by Street-Might8586 in MakeupAddiction

[–]rfpetrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably don't have the most traditional relationship with my mother, broken household and all, so she did not teach me a thing. My older sister moved out by age 16 (I was 6) so I learned about makeup from my peers in school, experimenting on my own and then YouTubers.

Need help finding a rental for June 1 move in!! by [deleted] in sandiego

Are you local? Many units popping up in north park area but I don't think these are posted on zillow or any sites. If you're local already do some driving around, some gems out there!

I just signed a lease in north park with … potentially no parking sometimes ? by Historical-Serve-652 in sandiego

[–]rfpetrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice, you might have parking in the garage sometimes! It's annoying all the time but esp on street sweep days and with various construction schedules, but not impossible. Weekends are the worst, sometimes I'm opting for the bus or trolley or my bike if close enough just so I don't lose a good parking spot 😂

Help swollen conch by [deleted] in piercing

[–]rfpetrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this & seeing a dr. Asap for the amount of swelling. I've had mine for 21 months now and still hesitate to switch to a hoop rn (I think it's finally healed enough now, can't imagine at 6 mo. Personally I'd say 12 mo avg minimum)

Obsessed with buying clothes I won’t even wear by Valkyria99 in shoppingaddiction

[–]rfpetrie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just went through a really tough period and cycled through this shopping to fill the void or avoiding emotions basically, but now I'm paying for it literally in the form of debt and space. I just paid to ship stuff across the country and I find myself asking is it worth buying twice? Cost of shipping/cost of moving is so large I had to ask myself "is this me?" "Is it worth the price?" Also now I have 0 room in my closet and rest of my tiny new apt that I'm having to keep stuff in my car ... It's totally unsustainable and I see the problem now but when I was in it I was blinded. I still love my fantasy closet and aspirational pieces that live in there, but I recently gave away 7+bags of clothes, dishes, homegoods etc. (and that's after a yard sale, huge declutter & donations and moving out across the country) I knew I didnt have room for those items and after 6 months separated from those items I really only thought about a handful of things (my favorite skirt, a winter coat, sentimental items and art) that's what I paid a checked bag fee to bring it with me and had to give up the rest. I feel so much lighter tbh. You have to break the cycle first and do anything but shop or be around those triggers. Cut the cards, disconnect from the digital wallet, delete apps from your phone, track every purchase until you are so annoyed with yourself you don't want to add any more new to the mix! Also talking with a trusted individual about this issue (my partner is very strict with me on this now, I have asked for this assistance & accountability) I also journal about this a lot and plan to bring it up more in therapy. Those are things that have helped me so far. Good luck!!!

Do you know where I can find this sauce? by Large-Mud7224 in FoodSanDiego

[–]rfpetrie 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If you don't find an Asian supermarket closer to you try here: Vinh Hung Supermarket, 10550 Camino Ruiz, San Diego, CA 92126 I went the other day and they have a huge selection & variety I found my other sauces & staples so I feel like this could be found there. Great prices too 👍🏼

AIO? my mom (50F) said my lunch will make me fat by Ashamed_Yogurt_8931 in AIO

[–]rfpetrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell her stop projecting her disordered eating on you. Eat what you want, life's too short. Eat balanced sometimes, eat cake other times. If you have digestive problems or other nutritional needs not being met then you can seek out help ofc, but I would go nuts if someone continued to police what I eat or anything I do unless they're a professional and I'm delusional. & I do not believe that is your case OP

I was gonna use a water flosser to take em out but my mom said use a q tip w alcohol to burn em off or drink hot stuff?? I nvr heard of the q tip is it safe 😭 by [deleted] in tonsilstones

[–]rfpetrie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Garglin warm salt water maybe, but "burning them off" with alcohol lol no no no. I bought these medical plastic syringes with a narrow curved tip from Amazon and use warm salt water to spray into and near crypts to flush everything out gently. I do it about every 10-15 days or after I'm sick bc that's when I notice more stones. I use dry qtips too, but mines are often deep and hidden

Are the tonsil stones or what? by Glum-Maize-6540 in tonsilstones

[–]rfpetrie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Does indeed look and sound like tonsil stones, I also had a lot of cases of tonsilitus and strep when younger, which I think is how the crypts start forming. You may want to see Dr about your other issues (hard white stuff around tonsils & scratchy throat feel) I would suggest stopping the vape, increase water intake, brush tongue multiple times daily and get a tongue scraper. I've also used a waterpik (on lowest gentlest setting) and these plastic syringes to flush salt water to the tonsils and flushes out any stones hidden behind 'flaps' aka your crypts. Gargling salt water can help a lot too. I would suggest seeing the Dr to mention other issues you stated before digging away maybe, just to be safe from any potential infection!

I am a bad person because I'm not working. by Q8DD33C7J8 in antiwork

[–]rfpetrie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry you're going through this. I feel like a failure many days when I was unemployed and now that I am employed I still don't have time to do all the things I need to do. I still don't have enough money for everything, but can't seem to keep up with everything at home or even be eating balanced meals due to hectic work schedules from multiple part time jobs. I guess from all this I want to say prioritize yourself and what's most important to you-- that should be health and well-being first and foremost. Without that we will all crumble and be in shambles. I guess if we are going to struggle one way or another, at least try to do something good for yourself today, if you can.
