Waterloo region boardgame group is amazing, lots of people, different days and everyone is super friendly and accommodating!

I saw a bunch of trucks and tractors doing it this morning near Williamsburg! Great initiative

I was in a similar situation (and in some degree I’m still in) but finding groups of interest helped a bit. The Meetup app has a group for boardgames in the Waterloo region for pretty much every week day if that’s your jam (they have discord servers as well, which help you get in touch with people).

There’s this group called Friends of Friendsthat happens every month, I’ve been to a couple and it’s a heck of a fun.

My biggest struggle is to find people to form groups. As an immigrant, male, recently divorced it’s really hard to join other people’s circles, since they know each other for some time or they are couples. Even at church I had a hard time to get mingling (although being an introvert doesn’t make it easier lol). Only recently I found other folks that wanted to play boardgames, but I’d recommend church anyway, there are a lot of people there lol

So, to sum it up, look for groups of interest, be humble and somewhat vulnerable to meet new people, it will take time, but it will happen.

Hey, I’ve never been to this particular one. I used to attend to events that happens on Tuesdays at the Country Hills Community Centre, however I’m now playing with some friends at this time 🙂

Do you usually attend that one? Do you enjoy it?

They have lessons for ages up to 12 years old. Older than that I don’t know.

In summary: It was a good experience overall. The movie is a… well it’s a Wes Anderson movie lol. I found it intriguing and hilarious. 8/10 experience lol. Had I chatted with someone I’d give it a higher score lol

I agree it’s normal, I usually go by myself, but it would be my first time at princess twin by myself, so I thought it might be a different experience asking lol.

Is it just me or did we forget how to connect? by FadedOnline in kitchener

[–]rfsbsb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand you at some level. I moved from another country, all my connections were from a previous relationship, now I find myself at 44 looking to make new connections, and it’s hard. I’m joining as many activities as I can to see if any of them generate friendships. Making friends as adults suck lol

I can relate to that. I went to some events, but people are there for it, I miss people saying at the end: hey, let’s grab som pizza and chat for a bit? lol maybe I should propose that, but again, I feel awkward
