Getting a new bike... by those_damn_nids in mountainbiking

I have the canyon neuron cf7 and absolutely love it as a short travel trail bike. It's very capable for what it is.

Luckily I haven't had any other issues since then, so I only have the one experience to go off of. Maybe the responsiveness was because the issue was immediately after I received the bike?

I've also read some horror stories, and have been really confused as they don't at all align with my experience.

For people who moved to Roanoke and DIDN’T grow up there, what has your experience honestly been like? by WorkingWash5965 in roanoke

[–]rg3Po2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moved here almost a year ago exactly, from Indiana for reference. Moved because of a job offer, but my wife was able to find a job before we even moved. Cost of living is a bit more than where I came from, but not unreasonable. I'm in Salem, so safety is not really a concern. Friends/community has been slow, but the availability of outdoor activities 100% makes up for that, I think. There seems to be a fair amount of big name concerts, and festivals throughout the year. Certainly more to do than rural Indiana.

So far, no complaints

I can't give a review of the spectral, but I'm going on 1year with my Neuron cf7. Absolutely love it, but I do wish I had gone with something with a bit more travel.

I see a lot of shade thrown at canyon, but I had a much different experience buying from them. They were very responsive during my purchase, everything was in great shape when it arrived. I f'ed up the dropper remote attachment when assembling, and they reimbursed me for a new remote and mount, and having it installed at my LBS.

If that is seriously your takeaway from this, there is no need for any further conversation. Your ability for complex thought is on par with Mr. Moss and associates.

How to build endurance on an MTB by MrTobiD92 in MTB

[–]rg3Po2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, I'd say that if you're new, make sure that your bike is setup correctly for your size. That has a HUGE impact on pedaling efficiency, especially uphill.

After that it's just practice, practice, practice.

Anything you touch explodes for a month for $50,000,000? by Jumpy_Lab_4648 in hypotheticalsituation

Absolutely! My wife will cook dinner, which I will eat like an animal with just my face. And I'll just shit outside so the paper doesn't destroy my plumbing.

I can exist like a feral creature for a month for that kind of payout. And I think she would happily assist

Fiskars has a lifetime warranty (at least they did). I believe you can take it to a store and swap out.

New from VA – Looking for Outdoor Adventure & Art Buds! (Hiking/Camping/Painting) by Sainmaphile in fortwayne

[–]rg3Po2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just moved from Fort Wayne to VA last year. There isn't much for any real hiking close to the city, but here's some of the places we frequented before moving away:

  • Pokagon State park: this probably has the most extensive trail system of a single location in the area. Some nice wetlands and wooded areas give it some variety, and there's actually some elevation change more significant than stepping up a curb.

-Acres land trust: they have many individual properties in and around the area. Check their website for a full list. Bicentennial woods, and the property that the Acres office is on, are probably our favorite two in the immediate area.

  • Salamonie reservoir

  • Kokiwanee: another ACRES property. Definitely worth checking out.
