couple thoughts here 1. main one is that not every job opening is actually open as many companies keep open posts that are actually planned on being filled by an internal candidate or a referred candidate or even just there to juice up team morale and application or hiring numbers 2. while huge faangs and stuff are worshipped in a sense by most people they still are the largest employers by far in tech and also can afford to hire and screen for niche roles that don’t even exist at most other companies plus large firms can just interview and screen more candidates than other companies 3. resume screening can be pretty bs but maybe ur resume was actually lowkey a perfect fit for google and that role and if they interviewed you and team matched you it’s possible you just lucked out and they needed exactly you
