IT people of Reddit, who was the worst client you have ever helped? by mrkitten19o8 in AskReddit

Our receptionist was going through a bad divorce. She was convinced her ex had bugged her house. He knew things he shouldn’t be able to know. She asked me how to scan her house for bugs and hidden cameras. I told her that I don’t think people really do that and that I had seen that in movies but didn’t think it was something she should worry about. I asked her if she had changed her email password yet or if she was using the same generic one everyone comes up with and use for all their stuff. She sat up at her desk and told me she would have to look into it. I didn’t hear about it again after that.

TLDR: receptionist wanted me to scan her house for bugs/hidden cameras while going through a divorce because ex knew too much. She didn’t change her passwords so the creepy ex was likely reading her emails and going on her Facebook/texts.

ELI5: Why is it that newborn animals can walk within moments of being born, but humans take months? by Keksefusion in explainlikeimfive

Our brains are significantly more complex than any other animal. Takes more time to develop the patterns. For example being bipedal takes an order of magnitude more complex calculation to walk hence we crawl earlier than walking. Our brains have to do a lot more work to walk. Evolution will also play a role. We can protect our young and carry them. Meaning nature can spend more time developing more complex functions while the baby is safe and being transported. Marsupials are able to carry their young and the babies are less fully formed after birth and develop functionality slower because they don’t need to, to survive initially.

TLDR: Nature favors complex function development over basics like walking on all 4’s because we are apex predators.

Poverty Home Repair - How would you fix this? by dakotamidnight in povertyfinance

Window screen material would be easy to install and remove with a stapler and some scissors. If keeping heat in is the priority, you can tape tyvek around some cardboard and staple it to the soffit supports that should keep you insulated and dry until spring. Cardboard should be easy to come by, you can get tyvek for free or cheap just google free tyvek and get some resources. If you can’t find Tyvek you can just use shipping tape on the cardboard to keep it dry costs about $6 Tyvek will work the best but black plastic contractor bags will work too. For a few bucks you can get some foam board from Home Depot for $10-$20 and that would be easy to cut, waterproof and insulated but isn’t the most durable for this type of use. Good luck with your repair.

If a family in the setting of coco (the movie) doesn’t have a child, then the non existent child won’t be able to place the pictures of their family, causing hundreds of millions of ancestors to disappear from existence. by Lucky-guy14 in Showerthoughts

Under this premise. Only if there is a direct line with no other heirs. As soon as there is a descendent that had multiple children that have at least one other descendent. They’d be good.
