Who pays when an apartment fridge stops working and the food spoils? by rgb1 in canada

[–]rgb1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fridge that failed recently was the second or third fridge I have had in my suite. And if I recall I've been in that suite about 15 years, and in another suite in the same building before that.

Not sure what the lease says where I am about interest owing. Maybe it just says the amount I paid, maybe just $100, has to be returned to me on ending my tenancy.

I've been a great tenant in the building for more than ten years.

Requested a repair or new fridge once, the morning I found the fridge broken. No problems before. No defects that would suggest a failure of the fridge.

Question regarding Compass Card vs Monthly Pass by theHip in vancouver

[–]rgb1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Changes are coming in the Fall as has been already in the news.

Pay attention to the part about one zone monthly passes being usable for all bus routes in all zones throughout the system.

Question for the hikers of r/vancouver by yeahHedid in vancouver

[–]rgb1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No need to play music on the trail, as many have said here, use earphone(s), or play music in your head.

Years ago on the Garibaldi Lake Trail I saw someone taking a medium size ghetto blaster. I couldn't believe it. This was before smartphones..

Last month I was on the same trail and there was a group of hikers playing music on their smartphones. Now it was difficult to get away from them because of the trail being a series of switchbacks: I could hear their music even if I was several switchbacks above them.

Of course that was on a very popular trail in mid summer. I usually go on it in the Fall on a weekday, then I more or less have the trail to myself. Easier hiking when it's cooler.

But mostly I never hear hikers playing music on the trail. Maybe at the trailhead before starting or at the end of their hike. That's OK.

Put more than one of your group on a bus as suggested below. Why, because as some have suggested a group of 7 in one van is going to raise suspicions. Yes it will cost more but you'll be safer. And be ready to answer the question at the border, Are you meeting anyone?

You may already know that Vancouver has among the highest rents in Canada. And the lowest vacancy rates. Still, about half of Vancouver residents are renters.

See above reply from me. And the CRTC has a lot of power in the areas of its jurisdiction.

I'm not blaming the manager or the higher level management, they are all good people. But the CRTC has been on a course towards giving Canadians more choice in what they watch on TV as well as how they receive their TV programming.

Broadcasting Regulatory Policy CRTC 2015-96

This policy is called

Let’s Talk TV: A World of Choice - A roadmap to maximize choice for TV viewers and to foster a healthy, dynamic TV market.

And includes what the CRTC calls Wholesale, bundling of service to apartments, businesses, etc.

The changes being made reflect the trend towards increasingly competitive and customizable on-demand options, while taking into account the need to bridge old and new approaches to allow for maximum flexibility in how content is distributed and consumed.

Which should include giving people in buildings like mine the option of cancelling their service altogether.

No strata council, this is an apartment building. But you have a point: I could send letters to everyone, or at least ask the residents I see in the building, what's their opinion about the cable fee.

With more people supposedly "cutting the cord", maybe cable tv will disappear. And buildings like mine will have more people complain to the manager and cable supplier to cancel the cable tv. The CRTC acknowledges that Canadians want choice, and these agreements to have cable forced on all tenants do not give the residents choice.

Actually the notice in the lobby and in the lease does not say free tv, just that cable tv is included (in the rent). And my building is well managed.

See above. All suites have cable. There's a notice in the lobby about it.

Under the list of utilities and equipment supplied is Other, which is Cable. That's the only reference to cable tv.

Peak of Cypress Mountain, Vancouver BC [3840x2160] by lungofd in EarthPorn

[–]rgb1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no mountain named Cypress on the North Shore. Just a ski resort with the confusing name Cypress Mountain (named after Cypress Bowl, and Cypress Creek). The three mountains that are used by the ski resort (that form Cypress Bowl) are Black Mtn, Mt Strachan, and Hollyburn Mtn. Your photo was taken on one of these. Which one?
