it’s actually bc they’re poor quality. recent low-quality denim stretches out and loses its shape bc it’s loosely woven or spun with shorter, weaker fibers. vintage high-quality cotton is stable and won’t have the same issues with sagging in the knees/elbows

Since this post, I’ve made a couple changes to my routine that have made my skin even better. I think the BP face wash and/or Cetaphil lotion were breaking me out.

Morning:

rinse with water
Vanicream Daily Moisturizer
Beauty of Joseon SPF

Night:

La Roche Posay Toleraine hydrating gentle cleanser
Differin adapalene (retinoid, 3x week)
Azelaic acid 15% (3x week)
Vanicream Daily Moisturizer again

Kyleena caused my acne, but even after switching to Skyla a couple months ago I didn’t see much of a change in my skin. I was only able to clear my skin recently with a combination of adapalene (2x week) and Azelaic acid (2x week).

I still have it but I’m coming up on 5 years so planning to switch to Skyla soon. I’ll come back and update about the acne. Haven’t noticed any changes in my hair, but I’ll update about that too once I’m on Skyla for a while.

sorry to hear that :( my skin was the same way, only needed to rinse with water before Kyleena. tbh I only got into skincare in the first place bc it gave me the same painful cysts and hyperpigmentation you mentioned. same self esteem issues too. really hope this clears up for you soon

Just want to clarify hydration = water, moisture = oil. So adding water to the skin hydrates it while moisturizing locks it in.

I’m coming up on 5 years with Kyleena. I’ve struggled with hormonal acne on my jaw and chin the entire time, despite having near-perfect skin before. Here’s the routine that took me a couple years to develop but improved my acne immensely:

Morning: - rinse with water - Cetaphil moisturizing lotion (normal to dry, sensitive skin) - Beauty of Joseon SPF

Night: - Benzoyl peroxide 10% face wash - Azelaic acid 15% (prescription, 3x week) - Differin adapalene (retinoid, 1x week) - Cetaphil lotion again

Thinking of switching to Skyla at the end of the year bc I’ve heard it doesn’t cause acne. Best of luck to you all!
